Halo 5 new XBO graphics King?

Let’s get this out of the way. Graphics don't mean the world to me, I play 8bit games, I spend countless hours playing Hot Line Miami, 3D dot heros, and other games that will never be considered GOTY graphics contenders. But thanks to what is now known as “Resolution-gate”, I’ve been wondering a lot about how exactly Halo 5 is going to look.

Microsoft may have jumped the gun by announcing Halo 5 was going to run in 1080p @ 60fps on the Xbox one, as currently the only retail games running at those settings on the console are Forza 5 and sports games. Rumors has it (Adele) that Halo 5 is “coming this year”, according to The Official Xbox Magazine, and if that happens it pretty much guarantees Halo 5 won’t be a show piece for the console and here’s why.
Ryse was in development for over 4 years, it’s EXTREMELY linear, and it comes from Crytek who have been maximizing PC architecture for over 15 years now, and even they couldn’t get the XBO to push a graphically intense game like Ryse up to 1080p let alone 60fps. Halo 5 will have been in development only 2 years, has open level design, and they're trying to do 1080p @ 60fps. While I'm sure 343i is a great developer in their own right, I find it hard to believe Halo 5 is really going to blow gamers away.

Which leaves Halo’s 5 graphics up to one thing art-style. And fortunate they’ve nailed their art-style with Halo 4. Halo 4 had a great art-style, and I can easily see them bumping up Halo 4’s graphics to 1080p @ 60fps without it being a problem for the XBO. On top of that adding better models, lighting, and textures (particles, foliage, metals, ground, rock, tessellation, reflections) and Halo 5 should look and play great. Maybe not a graphics benchmark, but it'll still be a system seller regardless.

That being said I find it hard to believe Microsoft wants to settle, with what is guaranteed to be their true system seller, looking anything less than stellar. Which is why I believe the 2014 version of Halo 5 will be in the form of a multiplayer beta. And with these Halo 4+ graphics, I think things will be more than acceptable and best of all running in 1080p @ 60fps. Now single player might be another story, and 343i might have to go the route Killzone: Shadow Fall did with single player running in 1080p @ 30fps (unlocked in the case of Killzone) and multiplayer running 1080p @ 60fps.

So what do you think? Would you be satisfied if Halo 5 was released this year with Halo 4+ graphics, or do you think Microsoft should save the system seller for 2015 to show what the XBO is really capable of. In the end I think we’ll get result like Killzone: Shadow Fall, with the Single Player running at a lower framerate than the multiplayer, although I fell Halo 5’s single player will have noticeably better graphics than it’s single player. If Halo 5 can reproduce in-game graphics that rivals Halo 4’s in-engine cutscenes (not the CG cutscenes) then I think everyone will be happy.

Halo 4: Now add better foliage, rock, and metal textures, and upgrade the lighting and we're good for Halo 5.

Halo 4: Great character models and.....dat @$$

Halo 4: Great art-style can sometimes do more than hyper-realistic graphics

900p 30 fps. Or 720p 60fps.

Yeah a graphics king.

Technically it's not called graphics, but visuals :-/ I still play sega games all the time so it's weird, you never really focus on stuff like that anyway.

yeh i agree.

the funmy thing is tho, theworld map road drivingz reminds me sooo much of Diddy Kong racing.

Sounds like the Switch 2 itself...$100 too much for the hardware.

At £75 ($101), I soon got bored of it, even free roam. All old tracks up to now, can't fault much else, but maybe some of the characters are stupid. It's just not as good as Mario Kart 8, which was a Wii U port on Switch. Went back to Mario Kart 8, World doesn't come close even if you play the Wii U version.

It looks so crisp and smooth.

120fps locked maxed out on a 4070 at 1440 ultrawide, Series X feels just as good and locks at 120 too. As it does everywhere according to this. Coalition knows their tech
