The first game is one of my most favourite games of all time. So it "revisits past ideas" ??? Ok great. Sign me up

So a sequel giving you more of the same just bigger and better is now seen as negative?
Does this site have a history of marking down sequels because they're "samey"?

I think it’s helpful to the people who were hoping that it’s not just more of the same. I hated the first game, but saw potential for a sequel that found ways to refine aspects of the gameplay and add meaningful combat. Good for the people who liked it to bring with, but I personally won’t touch the sequel with a ten foot pole now.

Same here. I finished the first game but this being more of the same, it's a no for me. Good for those who enjoy it but its not for me

Why is it always Gamespot lol how much traffic do they get these days?

Flewid6381d 22h ago

Everyone has to like this game? lol

They were the ones who gave OG CP2077 the low score and called out the bugs (and that review became famous) when every other big sites were handing out 9s like IGN.

I was hoping to see more 6s and 7s because I love the online drama.

Pretty petty reason to want that tbh

Elda2d ago

Anything Sony PlayStation or any game that's exclusive on PlayStaion he/she has something negative to say.

Eonjay2d ago

Well, it sounds like Kojima wanted that too (although I'm not completely buying his reasoning). He is in the lucky position where he doesn't really need a game to review well.

enkiduxiv2d ago

Give it a day or two. Day one reviews are largely meaningless.

neutralgamer19922d ago

Based on 90 reviews

90 out of 100 on metacritic
91/100 on open critic

There are always few who give these sort of scores to all great games. They don't do it because they had a difference of opinion they only do it to just to stand out and have their name be mentioned

Flewid6381d 22h ago

Everyone has to like what you like? lmao

neutralgamer19921d 21h ago

Actually that was the point I was making but you seem to have missed it. If you buy a product that has 100k reviews on Amazon at 4.8 and you buy it and rate it 1 than something is definitely not adding up

And we have seen this in gaming if a game is getting great reviews there are always few who will rate it differently just to stand out. Not saying it's wrong because it could be difference of opinion

victorMaje1d 9h ago

1 over 5 would be equivalent to a 2 here.
They rated it at 7 so I'd say you're wrong in arguing they're doing it to stand out, it looks a lot more like difference of opinion, which they're entitled to.

Personally, I usually trust gamer reviews more, as for publications, at this point I definitely trust Gamespot way more than IGN, in anything.

Death Stranding 2 review - Weird and deep, and that's about as Hideo Kojima as it gets | IGN Brasil

More dynamic and intense, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach avoids the tedious judgments that the first game received. The game plays it safe when it comes to gameplay and brings large doses of Metal Gear to provoke more action and fun. As for the narrative, the plot is sublime with criticisms of large corporations, social networks and AIs, but it is also extremely emotional when it talks about family, friendship, love and depression.
