cool perspective. as an owner of psvr2 i'll say this: The hardware is great. its not the best on the market but it certainly hangs with the big boys out there regardless. It's probably the best bang for the buck and certainly punches well above its price point. The gaze tracking and finger sensing are all super cool and the sense controllers are a serious upgrade from the move controllers of OG psvr. like literally everything is significantly upgraded... even quality of llife things like only having to have a single usb-c cord to plug in and the oled 120hz hdr screens.

BUT

all of that doesn't mean a ton if it doesn't cause disruption. as great as the new hardware is, its still a vr headset and the vr landscape in general is not great. the launch lineup is largely smaller arcade vr games, of which you've played or played clones of on so many other vr headsets. there are a couple standouts like gt7 and no mans sky that are pretty great and Call of the Mountain certainly shows the system off from a technical perspective (tho i think its pretty thin as an actual game - its not a full HZD game, but more of a climbing simulator/disney ride). so even tho i've only had my headset for a short time (since launch) i'm already kinda over whats on offer right now. I've already played GT7 several times since owning the headset and the last few times i didn't even bother to grab the headset, cuz i just didn't want to deal with setting it up. i feel i should be far more interested and happy to do this considering i paid nearly $600 for it.

Even tho I want to and keep trying, I don't have a lot of faith in VR as a major mainline platform. I think its cool for niche stuff or some racing/simulator stuff. its infinitely more immersive while simultaneously more limited and complicated. Just my opinion.

I don't think it needs to be mainstream
I don't know how you can go back to racing without it once you've done it in VR

No disrespect but you continually post the same thing. I've ignored it until up until this point, but now you say you play GT7 in pancake mode because you can't be bothered to plug in a USB cable? How do you get on with charging your phone?

My PSVR2 lives on my gaming seat when I'm not using it. It is connected to my PS5. To play GT7 I have a little additional routine of:
Make sure the room light is on/bright.
Put on a headband thing that makes wearing the headset more comfortable for longer periods.
Put on a wrist supporter (not VR related)
Plug my wheel in.
Put the TV remote to hand so that I can power off the TV as I don't need it once in VR.
Jump in my rig.
Power on the headset and put it on.
Put the earphones in.
Push the PS button on the wheel so I can use it.
Enjoy!

Not really a big deal, and that's for a fairly complex setup.

Exactly. It's always those without something that have the most complaints like we need their antidotes as to why they don't have it.

I love my PSVR2 hardware, I would also love Horizon CotM if there were a physical copy for it!
