I know I’m not one of them. Haven’t turned my switch on in about 3 months and I’ve got $120 or more sitting on the eshop. Can’t believe there’s been one Zelda, zero metroids, zero star foxes, zero F-Zeros, Zero Donkey Kongs, and Zero Punch Outs, and one and a half Mario karts. Will not have the upgrade system.

Fntastic1072d ago

They have some really good games and they just release the same stuff over and over like pokemon just because it's popular for some reason.

Where's all the other games? It's like they choose to release 1 in a series every other console or something.

Deathdeliverer1072d ago

Yeah I don’t know what’s going on over there. I’m a 80s kid and nobody loves Nintendo more than me but damn. It’s no way you’re satisfied with Nintendo’s offerings unless you’re the most DIE hard of die hards or it is your ONLY system to play games on. Can’t miss what you don’t have, can’t envy what you haven’t experienced. For me, having a PS5 and a Series X with gamepass my already struggling switch got put on life support. It’s not that it can’t make a comeback, but come ON Nintendo. Am I supposed to play smash forever?

Zeldafan641072d ago

I've got over 200 hours in Age of Calamity, over 400 in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, over 400 in Dragon Quest XI, over 100 in Xenoblade Chronicles DE and over 1,000 in Breath of the Wild.

Shiken1072d ago (Edited 1072d ago )

Opposite for me. I own every console, and Switch has seen the most action by far. Aside from first party games, it has great 2nd and 3rd party exclusives as well. No reason to discredit these games at all when looking at the library. Been hooked on MHR most recently, and the hybrid nature has me even buying multiplats on Switch when the option is available.

But hey, different gamers have different needs. And it is certainly selling the way it is for a reason. There are a great deal of 1st party IPs I would love to see get more love however.

“ Can’t believe there’s been one Zelda”

Wrong. BOTW, Cadence of Hyrule, and Link’s Awakening are on Switch. BOTW 2 and Skyword Sword are also coming.

“ Zero Donkey Kongs”

Donkey Kong is on the Switch with Tropical Freeze.

“and Zero Punch Outs, and one and a half Mario karts.

At this point you’re just looking for excuse to downplay the Switch. Even without those titles, there are multiple great titles on the system. Why didn’t you bring up Fire Emblem, Famicom Detective Club, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Kirby, Smash, among many others?

Deathdeliverer1071d ago

So rereleases count as whole new games? Interesting. I have fire emblem and famicom detective club? Nooo you’re just reaching. Switch came out almost 3 YEARS ago and it had ONE true Zelda game at launch. Look at your list. 3 years? 🤣😂. Keep telling yourself that screams high impact.

Shiken1071d ago (Edited 1071d ago )

@Deathdeliverer

The bigger point is that it got a full blown remake, two spin offs, and 2 new mainline games when BotW 2 drops. That is not even talking about ports.

So contrary to what you said, the Switch has seen more new Zelda content than any Nintendo device before it. So yeah, you are factually incorrect on the Zelda front.

Knushwood Butt1065d ago

Clubhouse Game

Argument won.

King_Noctis1071d ago (Edited 1071d ago )

“ Look at your list. 3 years? 🤣😂. Keep telling yourself that screams high impact.”

Animal Crossing New Horizon is one of the best selling Nintendo games ever. Then we have NON PORTED games like Smash Ultimate, Clubhouse Game, Yoshi Crafted World, Mario Tennis Ace, Mario Party, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Xenoblade 2, Pokemon Sword/Shield, BOTW, Mario Odyssey, Kirby Star Alliance, Fire Emblem 3 Houses, Astral Chain, Mario Maker 2, Luigi Mansion 3, Splatoon 2, Arms, Monster Hunter Rise, New Pokemon Snap, Ringfit, Mario+Rabbids, Paper Mario OK, Bravely Default 2, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (surprise, ANOTHER ZELDA game), among many others.

That is not counting the upcoming ones such as No More Heroes 3, Rune Factory 5, Bayonetta 3, BOTW 2, SMT V, Mario Golf Super Rushed, and Metriod Prime. As this point I wonder, do you even own a Switch at all?

Deathdeliverer1071d ago (Edited 1071d ago )

Omg.
@ Shiken DS says hi

@Noctis
I already have breath of fire and Mario maker. Those are NOT true Zelda games except breath of the wild, a launch game. Don’t know what you don’t get about that, but this might not be your first language. It is a website after all. All I’m going to say is you’re still making launch games and near launch games on that list on a 3 year old system. I love Nintendo, but if that doesn’t ring a alarm for you then you really have low expectations. Some aren’t even made by Nintendo when I am clearly talking about Nintendo first party titles. I think you’re just argumentative and confused. Reminds me of people that defend Xbox ones first party support. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were. I love my systems but I don’t blindly love them. You’re that blind love type.

King_Noctis1071d ago (Edited 1071d ago )

“ Some aren’t even made by Nintendo when I am clearly talking about Nintendo first party titles”

How does that change the fact that those are still exclusive games to the Switch? Just because they weren’t made by Nintendo suddenly you can play them everywhere else?

“ All I’m going to say is you’re still making launch games and near launch games on that list on a 3 year old system.”

I also said “ That is not counting the upcoming ones such as No More Heroes 3, Rune Factory 5, Bayonetta 3, BOTW 2, SMT V, Mario Golf Super Rushed, and Metriod Prime.”

Plus this year, Nintendo had either released or partner up with 3rd party for exclusives in Bowser’s Fury, Bravely Default 2, Famicom Detective Club, Story of Season, Monster Hunter Rise, and New Pokemon Snap. Are those “launch game” or “near launch game” ?

Tomb Raider Remastered just quietly censored one in-game detail

Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered players are ticked off by the game’s most recent patch, which censors in-game pin-up posters of Lara Croft.

This is why gaming is screwed. When people change things to fit someone’s agenda, it’s a slippery slope downhill.

Christopher5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

Even if that agenda is of the developer? Way to remove developer rights.

***One player called it a “huge problem with modern games,” saying they can now be “ruined AFTER people buy them”.***

The level of drama. Yes, I recall sitting there for more hours than I did anything else in the game. These two pinups are the core of the game, after all!

coolbeans3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

rlow1's cringe catastrophizing aside, I do think developers *ought* to strive to maintain an original work to the best of their ability. The language of a "remaster" tacitly implies that - for good or ill - what's being resold is what fans remember but better.

Profchaos3h ago

Games can be ruined after purchasing them yeah we know this not from this but from GTA IV which had half it's radio content patched out due to licensing expirations and to me that was a huge deal.

This pin up poster is a bit of nonsense but the whole argument of modern games can be ruined post launch is Absol true.

DedicatedDark2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

It's not their work to censor. They are incharge of restoration & remastering the work, not overwriting it.

Barlos1h ago

It's not the agenda of the developer though, they're pandering and trying to increase their ESG score.

Way to support censorship...

victorMaje1h ago

It’s not the end of the world for sure, but I understand the hate towards this kind of change. I believe it’s also a matter of principle.

Imagine a Picasso painting being restored & the restorer deciding there aren’t enough strokes, or some lines aren’t straight enough or curved enough…not sure it would/should sit well with people.

Have all original devs signed off on this change? Even if it’s the case, are we saying older gamers are better mentally equipped to process what was there than current gamers, hence the change?

Enough time ago the case was made that games are an art form. We’re supposed to have won that case.
So which is it? Are games art or not?

Hasn't this been happened for over a decade since remasters? I can't see that it's any worse now. Maybe if Sweet Baby starts getting their hands on remasters we will definitely have a problem.

Rebel_Scum4h ago

tbh I dont see something like this as censorship. Does anyone else not find it strange for someone to stick pin ups of themsleves in a locker room?

Now of it was a pin up of some half naked firefighters it might make sense as Lara might like that, and if they removed that I would cry censorship. But removing pin ups of the main character, yeah I get it.

Barlos1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

It's a game, and they were placed there for the audience. It's not real life. If it was, she wouldn't have fought a T-Rex now would she?

Yes, it's censorship but it's a bit less in your face. If they were in the original game, then they should have been in the remasters. It's bad enough that they have that ridiculous unnecessary warning at the start, but then they start removing things post launch. I don't care how small the change, they shouldn't be doing it. It's nothing but ESG pandering but in a subtle way.

Rebel_Scum4m ago

Look bro, if you have pictures of yourself naked on a bear skin rug up in your house let me tell you, its not normal.

SimpleDad58m ago

By the year 2030, this remaster collection will totally be changed and censored. Probably will remove Lara as a playable character. It's ridiculous. Glad that my family didn't buy this.
I still have Tomb Raider 2 PS1 as a memory.

CobraKai27m ago

It’s mentioned in the article, and it’s a point i 100% agree with, it’s the fact that they can censor a game after you buy it. That’s total bullshit.

Killer2020UK10m ago

Whilst it's an overreaction to say this has "ruined" the game, it's still problematic that this has happened post launch and for many, post-purchase.

I don't want someone to change a product for the worse after I've bought it. The same goes for implementing micro transactions after reviews.

I wonder why they did this? Nobody was kicking up a fuss as far as I'm aware.
