Immortals Fenyx Rising and Ubisoft's historically bad release schedule

Immortals Fenyx Rising is not a great game, but it is being shoved into a window that it has no chance of standing out in. And sadly, this has been quite a trend for Ubisoft.

It is a crowded window, but games sell more copies when available for a new console. So whilst it may seem that Ubisoft is cannibalising their own sales by releasing AC: Valhalla, Watch Dogs Legion and Immortals Fenyx Rising in the same window. They have done this deliberately to capitalise on the launch of the PS5 and Series X.

Plus are we sure the markets for these overlap? Is Fenyx Rising really after the people who are anticipating Cyberpunk?

I mean I’m going to play both but not sure that’s common, and for that matter I’m not getting Watch Dogs or Assassin’s Creed as they don’t appeal to me, so what are the odds all 4 appeal to a hypothetical customer?

Bad games will sell badly whenever they are released. Good games will always sell well eventually.

That's not 100% true. Bad games can capatalize on marketing buzz, pre-orders, and FOMO to do well. Yes, they won't have long - tail sales. Great games may sell well eventually, but they can also get lost in the shuffle, and will likely never reach the same level of sales (or revenue since they'd be grabbed at a discount later). This game is a perfect example. I'm excited to play it, but won't for a long time. As the "main game" I play, I'm going to finish AC:V and then start Cyber Punk after its X/S upgrade releases. Then next year there is Mechwarrior, Halo, Far Cry... and many more massive games coming out. Maybe I get through games, have time, and grab it on sale for $15. Maybe, but that isn't a good outcome for Ubisoft. By then they've likely made a decision on if it's a viable franchise and they're not getting a full $60+ from me.

Why do you think that the marketing budget for games and movies is typically around the same amount as the production cost? A game being good is not enough to be a big success in most cases, and there are so many games whose sales were cannibalized by poor release dates or that came out a bit too long after their predecessor (e.g the Resistance franchise lost momentum but Resistance 3 is arguably the best entry), that suffered from being exclusive to one platform for some period of time (e.g Rise Of The Tomb Raider), etc.

How do you get the preorder and season pass stuff on ps5? To get the dlc on MK11 I had to download the PS4 version load the dlc then delete the PS4 stuff. This “2 different versions” shit on ps5 is broken and stupid.

Fenyx Rising is a good game.

Fenix Rising is just a better Breath of the Wild, basically same game except improved combat, non breakable weapons and most noticeable lots of voiced and personable NPC’s.

Plus if me you like Greek Mythology then that’s a real boost
