Assassin's Creed Valhalla Update 1.04 Makes Performance Mode Worse on PS5

PP: The YouTube channel VG Tech has done some analysis of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, both before and after the 1.04 update, and using the stats provided, it's clear that the new update is actually a little worse for the PS5 when playing in the default Performance mode.

The patch has ruined the PS5 version of the game. Unplayable in performance mode.

Hellcat20201243d ago

I've had 0 issues or noticed any difference on my ps5
Just played it less than an hour ago and quite a bit last night

potatoseal1243d ago

Really wow.

I will tell you what's happening to me.

Any big fighting scene is massive Frame Drops.
Go into any big town and move the camera around you in a circle and massive frame drops.

Both of those things never happened before the patch.

UltimateOwnage1243d ago

Same here. I’m over 37 hours in, played on the original build, first patch and now this one that introduced quality and performance modes. I don’t see any major issues in performance mode that are new. But I also uninstalled the game and then reinstalled and repatched before playing when the new update released since my PS5 FW update actually caused quite a few problems with my game installs. Since then all has been good.

DragonWarrior191243d ago

Mine too, had a day off and basically played all day with no issue.

potatoseal1243d ago

Ok. I will delete and reinstall with the patch.

I've read elsewhere that some people have had my issue and now they notice nothing bad at all. So doing this will 'fix' what's happened to me.

ScootaKuH1242d ago

Same. There's still bugs and annoying screen tearing but nothing that even comes close to it being unplayable

mark3214uk1242d ago

mine also seems fine, unless i cant tell the differance

potatoseal1242d ago

It's working perfect now. Crazy

ScootaKuH1242d ago

What is making it unplayable exactly? Seems the same to me

GamerBeast19821243d ago

i always pick the graphic mode in all my games as the performance has never been a problem in any game for my. So better graphics is my option.

Mithan1243d ago

Reboot your PS5, it helps.

anubusgold1242d ago

digital foundry said just reboot your ps5 also they made the ps5 a little slower to cut back on screen tearing.

Modern Games Are Getting Too Long

While there’s a lot to love about modern video games, there is one trend — particularly in the AAA space — that tends to grate: their length.

Games are coming out with too much fluff and side activities that are horribly dull. That's my main issue with all these open world games. Open world should be about exploration, discovery and wonder, not have some stupid 10s or 100s of boring activities spread throughout.

IAMRealHooman27d ago

100% agree
All these ubisoft titles, Farcry, AC, Ghost recon, boast huge maps, but with the same, 3 missions or the same base to clear 100s of times. Hour 1 of any of those titles is the same as hour 100, there big for the sake of being big, with the illusion of player freedom, where we really want depth and player expression.

Ninver26d ago

Give me a solid 15-20 hour engaging single player driven IP any day. Life's too short you dig.

isarai27d ago

I stopped buying overfluffed games like a decade ago. Cant stand games with the Ubisoft mindset of just filling maps with uselss collectibles and fodder. Make it mean something. Ill gladly take 1/4 size of the map and 1/10th the "content" if it all meant more, were more unique and greater affect on your progression.

Well people complained like the world was ending when a few games were six to ten hours of gameplay. Developers listened and started making longer games full of repetitive gameplay, time wasting fetch quest and other forms of bloat. In doing so they were able to justify the high cost of a game being sold to the customers at seventy dollars or more.

H927d ago

Filler, it's like a 80 episodes show where only the first and last episodes actually matter

Inverno27d ago

It's been a problem with pretty much every modern AAA game all through last gen and this gen. God forbid you point it out tho because all these big games are masterpieces and people lose their minds if you criticize them. Death Stranding is a fetch quest fest, but people will die defending it cause it's a "masterpiece".

Thanks for the warning. I sure would have hated to have been surprised by installing a ubisoft game on accident.

Profchaos259d ago

Because you can't play all the games on every subscription already

KillBill258d ago

Valhalla is not on GamePass.

anast258d ago (Edited 258d ago )

I like Valhalla. The others haven't aged well.
