XMNR: The block-filled world of Minecraft is officially a hit on the Xbox 360 as Microsoft announced that the game from Mojang and 4J Studios passed one million units sold in less than a week.
indeed, i am one of those sales. like the witcher 2 before it, i just prefer to play games on my console. waited a long time for this and its pretty great. been playing nonstop.
one thing i dont understand anymore is why arcade games cant have 1000gs yet. back when they first came out, i got it. most games were nothing more than a couple hrs long. these days though most arcade games clock in at the same length or longer than retail releases. esp a game like minecraft which will likely out last 99% of the other retail releases i buy this year.
@Captain Qwark 9 - Agreed. I think it's probably time that Microsoft consider getting rid of the barrier between XBLA and retail games. The lines are getting blurred with releases like Minecraft.
Yeah evil micro is up to their dirty tricks again, its a marketing trap charging people less than the PC retail price, and what are all us mindless gamers thinking when we pay our hard earn cash for a game that we'll likely enjoy more and play longer than many run of the mill $60 full price games, of course Summons knows what's best for us all. pffft...haters.
I was honestly surprised by the amount of people on my friends list playing it.
It went from 2 or 3 people in the first 2 days, to now over 15 of my 60+ list playing. There's no shortage of co-op partners, and the game is clean and beautiful.
Can't wait for the future updates to really add meat (No seriously, I was playing MC on the PC last night and remembered that I could get chicken and beef from their respective animals) to the game.
actually steam is the best imo. Have you seen anything like this on a payed service like xbl? http://www.vg247.com/2012/0... & that happened in less than a week! Talk about bank 4 buck.
plus Free cloud saving! just my opinion..
Congrats to notch.
@below I said free! lol skyrim has 50,000 + mods..
You asked if we had seen anything like Portal 2's map creator on Xbox LIVE. I pointed out Trials Evolution.
I agree that Skyrim on PC is fantastic for no other reason than mods alone but it could probably support mods on Xbox LIVE and PSN too if Bethesda put effort towards either. Especially since PSN is supposed to be integrated with Steam. The fact that they don't is probably more of a case of limited resources than a limited service.
What is this game about and what do you do? I have heard of the name, but never really looked into it. I am an IT wholesaler, and so one time a group of high school kids had bought some computer servers from me. I had ask what they were buying them for and they told me it was to host their own servers for the game.
I was thinking damn, this game is super popular and wanted to look into it some more, but never got around to it.
You go and you dig & dig & dig and then you craft & craft & craft and then you build & build & build and then you dig & dig & dig... Yesterday I didn't even notice when I lost 8 hours with it :p
Microsoft might not have rolled out a ton of exclusive retail games thus far, but I have to say I've enjoyed a lot of these arcade titles just as much as some of those other retail games. Fez, Alan Wake, Trials and Minecraft are all great quality games. I feel like I've gotten my monies worth and all of those games combined cost less than a single new retail game.
Wow,that's impressive...
Hopefully, with the success, we can see some updates with more features and better textures.
This game is crack, Bring on the updates.
Congratulations!!!
Edit: Summons75
Are you mad?
LOL!!!
proof that most gamers have no brains now a days and that they are willing to show microsoft that it is okay to charge 20 bucks for an arcade game
