Retrospective Return - Gotcha Force

Avid Gamer writes;

"Retrospective Return is a look at older games to see whether they're worth a revisit. Ranging from unknown gems to bargain bin failures, we'll revisit any games that we think deserve it.

Gotcha Force is a troubled gem. First off its one of those games that you find yourself continually returning to, revisiting it on and off when you get the sudden urge to play something familiar. It's got quirky characters, first-rate gameplay and an easy to use interface. On the other hand, it's got peculiar AI and monotonous aural qualities. It isn't a game for everyone but Gotcha Force is a game that you'll abnormally want to keep playing until its 100% complete."

Second Sight was a really cool game at the time.

GaboonViper1068d ago

Without doubt for me it would be Eternal Darkness, one of the best videogames ever made IMO.

sweendog1068d ago

Eternal darkness was phenomenal. I remember panicking when I got an error code pop up and then it looked like all my saves had wiped off my memory card. That game would play with your mind.

GaboonViper1068d ago

HAHA same, so sad we probably wont ever see a sequel.

Orbilator1067d ago

Yeah loved it to, getting it all and getting the purple rune was great never felt like a chore. The only other game that I really enjoyed as much was starfox adventures. Great game

Paper Mario Thousand Year Door is just incredible, I really hope Nintendo will do a remaster or remake of it.

ZeekQuattro1067d ago

Big fan of Gotcha Force. A true hidden gem that rarely gets mentioned. It played a lot like Federation Vs. Zeon which is one or my favorite PS2 games.

IanTH1067d ago

No Paper Mario, Geist, or Eternal Darkness is surprising. Games like Second Sight can at least be played on other platforms, but some of those games are exceedingly expensive (should you want to play them on original hardware). I've got a handful of them, but Gotcha Force will sadly never end up in my collection at $700 for a CIB copy.

MONG Podcast 111 | Diamonds in the Rough

The crew goes through and covers topics from the week including the return of the Overwatch beta, the reveal of The Culling, Metal Gear Solid V’s upcoming DLC, Firewatch photos, David Gaider taking the throne and what happens when you smash two portals together while inside of them in Portal… personally, I think the computer should have crashed hard and never turned back on.

The topic of the week was Diamonds in the Rough, or, what games the crew thought were the most underrated. Some interesting and nostalgic gems were brought up and Myles’ pick will surprise no one… he hasn’t talked about it 490491 times before. Regardless, listeners and viewers, what’s the most underrated game in YOUR opinion? MONG!

Also, if you’ve got conversation topics for a Thought from Nowhere, contact us at [email protected] and tell us! We’d love to talk about what you think is important and (if you want) we’ll even read your name (or tag) out on the air!

5 Great Gamecube Games You Probably Never Played

The Gamecube had some excellent games, and some are still fan favourites of their respective franchises. Classics like Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime One and Two, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Mario Kart: Double Dash and Super Smash Bros. Melee are all remembered fondly and revered by many people, rightly so. However, there are other games on the Gamecube that have been lost in time and forgotten by all except the small few who played them

Recently got the PS2 out to play Onimusha and Killer 7 lol.

Viewtiful Joe 2 should also get listed!

Kyosuke_Sanada3529d ago

Trust me, wait and buy the Gamecube version because it is better in both gameplay and graphics however the port isnt a slouch.

higgins783529d ago

Played (and owned) them all barring, Gotcha Force!? Never even heard of it until this point.

SynestheticRoar3529d ago

Played four. Ever tried that giant game.

franwex3529d ago (Edited 3529d ago )

Well...I haven't played Doshin or Gotcha Force...but the rest are kinda meh. They are good if you are a GameCube collector I suppose. Fire Emblem Path of Radiance should be included and maybe Cubivore too (which are uber-rare now-yikes)
