Fan Outrage Focuses on Saints Row: The Third

With the recent announcement of the new Saints Row: The Third expansion pack, Enter The Dominatrix, fans were outraged. This pack was originally brought to the player’s attention on April 1st as everyone thought it was an April fool’s joke, however, now we have been informed that this is far from a joke. What THQ has is a game that they attempted to make every gamer love instead of having fans of a select genera stick with the franchise. Saints Row: The Third was intended for both fans old and new but in the end it has proven to be a bigger let down to people who previous loved the series, not to mention those who picked up their first Saints Row title as Saints Row: The Third seem to be getting a little burnt out with all the ‘fun’. What is it that drove the diehard fans of the series away from Saints Row: The Third and what is keeping new fans from continuing to love the game?

I really wish the series was more like how it was in Saints Row 2. i love the humor in the third and i ever love the game but the "over-the-top" stuff they got in it gets old fast :/ i want answers from the first games not a bunch of pointless bull crap lol

kamruk4784d ago

i personally loved the saints row 2 (never played 1) for it's take on the "gangster tale" being over the top and crude, but at the same time well written in a fun way. it felt like what action games would have been like if they would have developed straight from the colourful wacky era of video games, it felt fresh in comparison to todays market.

TheSuperior 4784d ago

that is exactly how i feel. i just think before it was funny but still cool and gangster. now i just dont have as huge of a connection to it

Gamer19824784d ago

I agree the secret stuff in SR2 left a cliffhanger ending that was never answered in SR3 they should continue that. Or if they are going to do an expansion do a return to stillwater expansion with the SR3 engine.

Hufandpuf4784d ago

Is the DLC even worth buying? I've heard the DLC only lasts for 2-3 hours when they were supposed to be expansions.

Janitor4784d ago

No, it's crap. I got it free with season pass pre-order, and that's what it should cost everyone: $0

Gamer19824784d ago

The other DLC were a giant waste of money I bought the season pass and I wish I didn't this has put me off pre-ordering DLC in the future. Especially as this new DLC doesn't come free with it? That's a joke!

Janitor4784d ago

Yeah, that was a short "season" huh.

Dark_Overlord4783d ago

Same here, usually season pass's include ALL DLC, this joke of a pass included 4 packs? and that was it. Complete rip off, aint ever buying a season pass from them again

TheColbertinator4784d ago

Regardless I'm excited for the expansion.

ZeroChaos4784d ago

I guess it was less story driven and more weird and wacky plots. Which were really cool, but they were more like Michael Bay.

Saints Row 1 and possibly 2 had heart. In this their like the Million Dollar man, perfect in every way yet its missing its soul what made it SR.

TheModernKamikaze4784d ago

Does thq know the meaning taking a joke too far?

Highly underrated GTA 5 rival is cheaper than a McDonald’s meal on Steam

The wait for GTA 6 is painful, but for less than $6 you can pass the time with the overhated Saints Row reboot on your Steam Deck right now.

This was free on something at some point, so I decided to check it out. It's definitely properly rated.

Concord and the Other Biggest Flops of This Generation

Some of the biggest success stories in the history of gaming have happened during this generation of gaming. At the same time, some of the biggest flops in the history of gaming have also happened during this generation of gaming. To this end, a few games particularly stick out as, unfortunately, disastrous flops for those who made the games, sold the games, and ultimately, for many that played the games.

What a strange, short list. There have been many more games that arrived DOA, were never released, didn’t make their budget back, etc. Why cherry pick these games? Is this list based on the size of internet hate boners?

EternalTitan279d ago

These flops have a similarity that you may not be allowed to point out.

Skull and Bones gets my vote, at this point just completely remake AC Black Flag. If the Concord developers had made the game free to play, and toned down the in your face messaging via the mods and design choices, this game could have been serviceable eventually. I never understand why pandering to 5% of your audience and giving the finger to the other 95% seems like a good idea to these people. They never seem to learn. Disney has lost 1/3rd of its value and they keep doubling down on political messaging. I don’t get it.

BlackTar187279d ago

Some of these companies are paid huge amounts of money to do this stuff. They get truck loads of money to give “the message”
By blackrock and vanguards and multiple other venture capitalists even though it’s been proven over and over they fail.

Saints Row - Where it All Began

Saints Row made its debut nearly 20 years ago, and while the game has aged its still worth playing on modern consoles.

banger88461d ago

Back when games had balls. Now they still have balls, but also lipstick and a dress.

kevco33460d ago

Or an angry purple streak in their hair to demonstrate they're a rebel.

SimpleSlave460d ago

And they claimed this place was one of the outhouses for Gamers™ and gamerGate Incels. Pfft! But look at bangerBro99's amazing display of Homo-eroticism. How far we've come.

So proud of you, bud. Now you go grab them balls and have all the fun. 👍

Outstanding!

PhillyDonJawn460d ago

They should remaster the first 2.

1nsomniac460d ago

I think the first one was the best in the series by a long, long way!

Demetrius460d ago

🥲🥲 someone needs to buy this ip and watch dogs, give those franchises a proper treatment sheesh

TheColbertinator459d ago

First 3 games were great. Then 4, Gat out of Hell and the Reboot were flimsy in comparison. Aliens, demons and a weak reboot in terms of intensity made the games forgettable.

Profchaos459d ago (Edited 459d ago )

But even 3 ventured into rediculas territory with zombies and stag. Zombies in 3 to me was just a hey you know what's popular zombies let's do that

TheColbertinator459d ago

The endgame of 3 did get stupid but the game held together at the end. 4 was just annoying all the way through.
