Call of Duty buzz up 400% in wake of Black Ops II reveal, PS3 gains mindshare

Call of Duty: Black Ops II was officially revealed to the world on May 1 during the NBA playoffs. The goal, of course, is to drive awareness and get players psyched 6-7 months ahead of launch. According to Nielsen Media, the strategy is working. Speaking to GamesIndustry International, the firm revealed that its NM Incite tracking solution saw buzz around the Call of Duty brand more than quadruple in the wake of the Black Ops II reveal.

Call of Duty will be the highest sold game on every platform again.....EA already started the trash talk and Black Ops 2 is nowhere near release....People on gaming forums will hype up MOH to take market share away while COD breaks records on the 13th...Please none of that"Real Gamer" non-sense either...people can buy/play whatever they want.....both franchises can exist without cheerleaders wishing on ones downfall....

I said it the whole time during last years Battlefield 3 vs. MW3 drama.

People were sooo sure that Battlefield was going to topple COD, because EA kept pandering to the COD Haters online.

As the game got closer though, Karma bit them in the @$$ because after all of the smack talk peoples expectations flew through the roof.

Then that infamous demo came out and POOF..

Humility would have avoided alot of last year's controversy, but at the same time maybe EA got alot of buzz from the drama and they may have felt ultimately that it helped sales..

Either way BF3 wasnt even a flesh wound for the COD franchise.

You two are so right. I remember also the snobby comments from some posters on n4g. How Battlefield 3 was for the elite, high profile gamer that didn't dare dirty their hands with CoD.

they all claimed BF3 would fix the problems found in CoD.

But guess what, BF3 damn near had all the problems plus their own. Now you don't see anywhere near the comments in BF3 articles that you did before the game released.

The only thing that could possibly challenge this is Grand Theft Auto V.

As much as I hate to admit this, not even Halo 4 will be able to fully challenge BlOps2, not with hype that has suddenly blossomed around the game, and that greatly saddens me.

Come Rockstar, give Call of Duty a serious run for the money, because for the love of all that is pure and holy, NOTHING (that's exclusive to any platform at least) else can this year!

Agreed, GTA is the only possible challenger to COD, hell it's the only one that's even close to a challenger. Everything else is miles away.

Halo 4 is a possible contender if you only count BO2 sales from the 360 version. If any exclusive could even come close to COD sales it would be Halo though.

I hope treyarch doesn't port bo2 from the 360 to the ps3. It's total bull. I want them to make the ps3 version to have the same resolution and stay at a solid 60 frames. If Xbox can do you then we all know the ps3 most certainly can.

I agree but its not going to happen because of the contract Activision is under with MircoSoft.Only way you going too get a full-pledge CoD game if Respawn Enterinment makes an exclusive game for PS3.

Hope Respawn have something at E312 multiplatform or exclusive.I think this year E3 alot of games will be shown.Hopefully we finally see Agent and my personal game I want MAG 2.....
