Why I’m Not Looking Forward to Diablo 3

Diablo 3 is undoubtedly all the rage in any PC gamer’s world right now. After all, after such an astounding hit that Diablo II was, the 2000 game’s successor could only be better, right? Especially after it’s been in development for, oh, eleven years?

Wrong.

Doesn't seem to be nearly as big as i would have expected for a blizzard game. i played the beta (which is just a demo), and i found it to be extremely boring. a game that was fun in the 90s isn't automatically fun now. this game is a prime example.

essentially all you're doing is spam clicking things so you can pick up loot to make clicking on things more efficient. it doesn't require any skill to play and since it's so repetitive, i can't imagine investing hours in it.

Diablo 1 was incredible, Diablo 2 was okay, but felt dated and the grind was getting annoying, Diablo 3 is actually just not fun to play.

@below: you're right. we're all entitled to our opinions. that's yours, this is mine. but i'm not going to leave it. criticism generally is what leads to improvements. not that we'll see a diablo 4 in the next decade. i will say that i have a tough time considering this game to be diablo 3. it really just feels like a re-coded diablo 2 using a physics engine. even though i already have diablo 3 pre-installed, max payne 3 is seeming more and more like a launch day purchase to me.

mullerhun4808d ago

if you dont like it, leavit it.

I loved all Diablos and will this one too. It a matter of taste guys!

Lucretia4808d ago (Edited 4808d ago )

@mullerhun

yes it is a matter of taste, and i loved the first 2 diablos.

and i am 100% allowed to be dissapointed by D3 because its just a let down. The game looks barely any different from diablo 3. Im not a graphics junky, but wtf is up with those 2002 graphics?

the gameplay barely changed, barely any new mechanics, if anything they stripped things from diablo 2 that made it awesome like the pvp and other things.

you would figure that blizzard, a company who made so much money on wow would atleast be able to afford something. honestly this game is just D2 with new classes and a tiny itty bitty visual upgrade. The partical effects and spells arent even visually appealing.

so dissapointed by this game, sure it will still be some fun, but i dont see what took them years and years and years to make this because we could have enjoyed this game 10 years ago

@hay,

I did play it, its not good enough to buy day one. I will play it though and beat it because its diablo, but thats all

hay4808d ago

You're gonna play it people. You just don't know it yet.

Baka-akaB4808d ago

It's not just a matter of taste . i'm going to play because a subpar diablo is still better than anything else in the same genre (yes even torchlight) , but d3 lost quite of a lot of what made diablo interesting .

I'm not digging at all how it ditch the fun stats system for a run of the mill wow/mmo system of skills points and customisation runes . There is no defending it , it's not as if they added something new in return , it's just less stuff for a game that was already the most accessible .

Any more than that would be akin to venturing into molyneux crazytown

And it's way too easy so far .

It's ridiculous how they limited co-op to 4 .

Nor is the absence of pvp at launch making sense in any way and something that should be forgiven .

closnyc4808d ago

yes, of course consiering torchlight 2 has all the features this game doesnt. diablo 3 is dead with this blizzard bullshit.

I agree. I was kind of disappointed with Diablo 3 beta. Diablo 1 and 2 were great back in the days, but now they are outdated... and Diablo 3 seems to use similar gameplay, so in spite of the graphics improvements, online and co-op, the game's gameplay and graphics just felt outdated.

I was going to buy it on release... now I'm going to wait when it's cheaper. Getting Max Payne 3 instead.

killerhog4808d ago (Edited 4808d ago )

I think the problem is the art style and some of the new features they included in diablo 3 and excluded from diablo 2. I'm also not interested in diablo 3, after playing d2 since I was 8, till now (now here and there, got a life).

Intentions4808d ago

For me: I'm still gonna get it. Imo it seems like they are leaning towards the casuals. Just judging by the fact that they are interested in a console port.

Lucretia4808d ago

console players are casuals? wtf?

while i agree that they are making it so anyone can play (even people who computers from 1998)

to say that console plauers are casual is sort of......narrowminded.

I have a ps3,360,wii,dsi,3ds,psp,psvita ,gaming computer, and all prior gen consoles prior except for the sega saturn and atari.

i didnt know i was casual...man im in shock.

a game with those graphics, simple gameplay etc is an easy port to even the original xbox. porting to consoles means far wider audiance, which is all blizzard cares about. look at wow and how easy they made it so anyone can play.

maybe i consider PC only gamers casual because they play far less types of games as console gamers? :P

Letros4808d ago

You're casual, nothing wrong with that though.

killerhog4808d ago (Edited 4808d ago )

Yes you're casual cause you're female. All female gamers are casual by law. Don't you dare try to defy our laws woman. Lol just kidding and imma also arrogate that you're female cause of you're name. But I'm just teasing though.

FinaLXiii4808d ago

never played a diablo game and i want to play diablo 3.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4808d ago

ummm...11 years in development...? Since we're all entitled to our opinions, the guy who wrote this is retarded for assuming Blizzard has been working on D3 for 11 years. It's just silly to think that.

I think some people are being a bit over judgmental here. Other than MoP for WoW, Blizzard has always delivered. I'm willing to bet this game will be a hit.

Lucretia4808d ago

have you played the beta? because its not that good, and im a diablo fan. and your right, bliazzard was focusing on other projectsm there is no way they worked on this for 11 years, because if they took that long to be at the end result that is Diablo 3, then there is a massive problem. Maybe one guy worked on it alone and even did all his own voice acting, otherwise it wouldnt make sense, unless it was another Too Human....lol @ Too Human

hellzsupernova4808d ago

theres a differnce between being a hit and actually being a good game

Diablo 4 and Diablo 3 teams change structure in an attempt to release less buggy seasons

Via Diablo’s global director of community Adam Fletcher, Blizzard is introducing new measures to improve the quality of season launches in the future. Across both Diablo 4 and the aging Diablo 3, fans of Blizzard’s games should all benefit.

anast141d ago

If they didn't let the cellphone guy touch the 3rd one in first place, they wouldn't have to dance around like clowns trying to make money.

Xristo141d ago

We've been asking for less "boring" seasons... "boring"... not "buggy"... same ol' rehashed content just a different color is not working.

The Greatest Video Game Comeback Stories in Gaming History

Who says a dud game can't have a video game comeback?

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

thorstein511d ago

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

shinoff2183511d ago

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.

Diablo III - Still a Huge Draw in the Face of Diablo IV

Diablo III still works on modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and remains hugely playable a decade after initial release.

Palitera820d ago

Are you comparing a continuously improved 10+ years old masterpiece with the... beta of an unreleased game?

kevco33820d ago

Heh, yeah. There's no comparison in here! Its a commentary on how III is still very playable over a decade later.
