With Xbox 360 sales slowing down, Windows Phone desperately needs to succeed

Microsoft had mostly good news to report in its third quarter earnings today, though one division stood out as the biggest loser: Entertainment & Devices, home of the Xbox and Windows Phone.

The division reported revenue of $1.62 billion, down 16 percent from a year ago. Microsoft blamed “a soft gaming console market” for the decline. Indeed, the company remains the leader in the video game console market with a 42 percent share, even though Xbox 360 sales were down 48 percent at 1.4 million units sold.

With Apple's iPhone revenue far outpacing anything else they do, this makes a lot of sense.

WP7 is an afterthought to many, even though it's a solid OS with solid handsets. 360 sales will probably begin to slow, simply because it IS time for the next gen. Let's do this!

WP7 is a decent os but it arrived to late, android and ios are joint kings while every thing else slowly dies

And yes, next gen needs to arrive asap
