Operation RESURGENCE (Apr 13-15)

Chris Priestly writes: "This Operation is currently available to Xbox 360 and PC users only, and will run from Friday, April 13th at 5PM PST to Monday, April 16th 5AM PST. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer our Multiplayer Challenge weekends on PlayStation 3. Sony has not yet approved the promotion. We continue to work with them to find a compromise, but until then, Sony will not allow us to run the same Multiplayer Challenges on the PlayStation 3 that we run on Xbox 360 and PC."

"S*it storm in 5..4..3..."

Ummm...sure, in your mind I guess.

I didn't even know these Challenge Weekends existed before I read this article.

Dante1122406d ago (Edited 2406d ago )

I didn't know about the Challenge Weekends either. Doesn't matter anyway since I already traded the game in for money at Gamestop. But how is it Sony's fault when Bioware/EA couldn't be bothered to sort it out before release?

Edit: Disagrees incoming, now I see what Logicwins goes through lol.

snipes1012406d ago

I get the feeling that if this happened on XBL then people would be bashing Microsoft. But since it is PSN, it's EA's fault.

Not saying that I like EA but we dont have all the details yet.

NOW disagrees incoming in 3...2...1...

andibandit2406d ago

I've been saying this for a while, when someone asks why i dont prefer PS3, cause theres no doubt it has the better exclusives. Online gaming is my thing and i prefer to be we're the action is. Oh and for anyone thinking it's just this one game......WRONG!.

badjournalism2406d ago

Because it would have been so hard to get all this cleared up *before* the game came out. Blame Sony for EA/BioWare's laziness... The very fact that they couldn't be bothered to clear these obviously planned events before the game came out so everything would be ready shows a distinct lack of respect for 1/3rd of their playerbase. It's not Sony's responsibility to get these things done prelaunch.

mr_badhand2406d ago

Get what done before prelaunch?
The article states that it is Sony that didnt approve the promotion, how is this EA/Bioware's fault?

firelogic2406d ago

Sony has no problems with other prompotions for BF3 or CoD that occur at the same time as xbox/pc so the excuse is BS.

badjournalism2406d ago (Edited 2406d ago )

These were planned events. They've been doing them since the game came out. If you know you'll be running promotions and events during a game's lifetime, you work out the logistics with all the platform holders *BEFORE* launching the game. You don't do it afterwards and then blame them for your lack of preparation.

SuperLupe2406d ago (Edited 2406d ago )

Bioware doesnt have a clue about what they're talking about.

However, Badjournalism a N4G member with 2 bubbles does. Yep, seems legit to me.

TekoIie2406d ago

You put too much faith in the bubble system. I had 5 bubbles last week. It doesnt show any legitimacy whatsoever, If someone disagrees with something i say or my opinion they will take away a bubble because thats how N4G members role...

snipes1012406d ago

Bubbles or not, still doesnt say he knows what he's talking about. He's just some guy on the internet and we still have no statement from Sony on why they are having problems with the promotion. Sooooo attacking anyone at this point is foolish.

Seeing as Countless other Dev's claim sony is the most open with their network I don't see how it's sony's fault tbh; they allowed steam, CCP's dust 516 qith it's EVE online connection, MGO etc were allowed to run their own thing separate from psn and I'm sure we will get other examples such as counterstrike's pc-ps3 cross play in the future. So if Bioware/EA couldn't be bothered to sort it out before release that's their fault.

Skate-AK2406d ago

They announced that Counter Strike cross platform play is canceled.

dead_eye2406d ago

That will probably have more to do with game balance than anything else.

Waddy1012406d ago

You're 100% correct with that one, Valve said that they felt it would be unfair due to a mouse being a lot more accurate.

STONEY42406d ago

Their main reason was that they wanted to be able to constantly update the PC version after release, but cross-platform play would make PC players wait until the patches for the PS3 were certified and released, which can take more than a month. Google it and you'll find the article.

360GamerFG2406d ago

Here's the source:
No mention of balance or mouse being unfairly accurate. . .so you lied.

extermin8or2406d ago

well that's news to me; but even so I doubt that would have been because sony stopped it lol and why would sony prevent this effectively making it look like ps3 has the inferior product and giving microsoft an exclusive feature; they'd have to be mad. Clearly there's more to this than the article says...

SuperStrokey11232406d ago

This is weird, i wonder what the issue is?

Godmars2902406d ago

Reading the article would probably be a good start. Just saying.

Though it might have something to do with reports that the PS3 version of the game has bugs separate from the others. Might cause general network issues if they allow it to happen

SuperStrokey11232406d ago

I read it and its not at all clear what the reason is.

trouble_bubble2406d ago (Edited 2406d ago )

Had you read the article yourself, you'd see they don't say it's a technical issue, they're just waiting for "approval" and are looking for a "compromise". Compromise, implying meeting halfway, both parties getting something out of it.

Maybe EA jumped the gun and let the 1st promo out on Live while it was still in QA approval limbo for PS3, inadvertantly giving MS an exclusive promo that should've been multiplat? Hey, who knows. MS doesn't let former PSN games on Live unless they bring added features -Joe Danger, Kung Fu Live/Impact etc-. That's THEIR compromise.

Bugs have nothing to do with it. Heck, Resurgence launched with a buggered download on XBL anyways, a price tag of 320 points. PS3 has had EA community events before, like BF:1943 needing so many community kills to unlock the last map.

Rainstorm812406d ago (Edited 2406d ago )

@trouble bubble

3 weeks ago Bioware said the Operation Goliath promotion wasnt on PS3 because of "technical limitations" now they are blaming Sony...So its hard to just take them on their word at this point
