Siliconera: The rumours were true, and Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is headed to PCs. Namco Bandai announced the game during a press event today, revealing that there were initially no plans for a PC port of the game.
Hope it has some type of Steamworks support...and finally its official and fully confirmed with this trailer ......
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU GFWL is the worst service ever @TopDudeMan No their giving it to us with GFWL. I will be fine if there is Steam support with GFWL integrated, but if it's only GFWL then I'm passing.
Typical gamers. Complain when we're not getting something then when they decide to give us it, we complain about how they're giving it to us... edit @Above, dude regardless of the reason why, you're still complaining.
I'm still gonna buy the PC version just won't use the online features since its crappy GFWL
Here's a petition to have it removed a lot of signatures in a couple of hours. http://www.change.org/petit...
I think there's been some confusion regarding this. The box art shows the logo 'Games For Windows', not 'Games For Windows Live', and most games that have this are Steamworks such as Fallout New Vegas, Brink etc. It's the LIVE bit on the end that makes it a GFWL title.
It says LIVE. http://blogs-images.forbes.... I'm confused. The official site says it'll be available for download only, yet this box art was released. I guess we'll see. At the very least, it's probably safe to assume that it'll be released on Steam and other digital distribution services.
DLC for consoles please
FromSoftware wont forget about us dont worry
thanks for supporting pc which has generally gotten the shit end of the deal this gen. and thank you for realizing the huge potential that Dark Souls PVP will have on the pc. and also, for not making a shitty console port. @below - yes piracy is bad and i'll be upset if this one bombs, they are only making it due to demand. I loved Demon's Souls and Dark Souls and will be rebuying it day one on pc. I cannot wait for it, and its a game i've already played. Just proves how awesome it is
I think developers should create a way to avoid piracy first (even if it's temporary) and then support PC. It's good to see a grat game is coming to the PC audience, but if it's another bomb (sales), developers will have another excuse/example and we will have to wait even more in order to see good support. And here it comes the disagree just because I said that I want the problem with the bad support SOLVED OT: I can't wait to play it on my new PC, I just need a bigger monitor.
I think pc gets the best support, but I suppose it depends on what you play. Imo the selection on consoles is thin and mostly just generic shooters. Developers just don't make money on most console games unless they are major hits these days.
@kevnb Well, yes, it depends on what you play. If you love RTSs, Simulation, Online RPGs and FPS, PC is probably your choice (there is no better platform for this in my opinion). Particularly, I wouldn't live without games like UFC 3, Red Dead Redemption, Fight Night Champion and some single player RPGS (I don't have time for online RPGS like years ago). But hey, that's not what I am saying. I am saying that developers needs to create a way to avoid piracy and increase profits in order to give more support for PC players.
I truly believe if a game is great, it will sell. Dark Souls will definitely get pirated for the same reason, but there's this general misconception that piracy actually hurts sales (it doesn't) and that all pirates are bad (they're not). To elaborate, people pirate for different reasons: - Profit. - Because most DRM sucks. - They can't afford it. - It's convenient. Just to name a few. I don't condone the selling of warez. At all. But the rest are pretty valid reasons. In most cases, DRM hurts the consumer more than it does the pirate. I know people who buy legal copies only to crack them because of the DRM. I see a lot of people accusing pirates of being scum, but how many of you've bought used games from GameStop and the like? You're hurting the industry more than pirates are. Which brings me to sales. A game is not losing sales if a person can't afford it in the first place. That's not to say their misfortune gives them the right to pirate, but it doesn't make that fact any less true. I'm sure this will get plenty of disagrees, and that's OK. Opinions vary on the matter. In any case, I'll be giving From Software my money for the PC version even though I already own it on console, because it's a great game.
You PC guys are gonna love this game! Should of won game of the year IMO.
One of if not my favorite game this gen
Unfortunately, Skyrim stole the limelight. Understandably so, as it appealed to a wider audience. Dark Souls isn't for everyone.
Awwww YEAH! I'm not going to bother finishing the PS3 version I have. Gonna wait for this version so I can play it in 1080p with smoother framerate and have access to that new content. I'm excited for this game all over again!
id rather play it on a big screen so ill just keep my ps3 and 360 versions, if i was to get the pc version i would get it only for the new content
I'm going to play it on my tv using my pc... With HDMI cables its quite simple. Plug it in and play, use a wireless 360 pad or wireless keyboard and mouse.
@gamingtruff 90% of graphics cards from the last 8 years have hdmi outputs, the other 10% have dvi, a dvi to hdmi adapter costs about $4 on amazon. pc games look 500% better on a "bigscreen" no jaggies, no sub-hd, no pop-in, no screen tear and MASSIVE improvements in framerate! I play all console games on the smallest screen possible in an attempt to hide the terrible quality i play my pc on a 55" samsung with a 7.1 klipsh/denon setup my consoles are connected to a 24" and still look way worse than any game i play on my pc! on topic, cannot wait to play this game again with new content and 60 frames versus the AWFUL framerates i played through on console (ps3 was the version i played)
@GamingTruth HDMI (or whatever your output of choice is) from PC to TV and...presto! PC gaming on the big screen! I do it all of the time. I really never understood the argument "I prefer gaming on my big screen" when it's (hooking up the PC) as easy as hooking up your PS3/360 to it (the TV). Sure, I can see if your gaming PC isn't near your TV, but that's often times an easily rectifiable situation. Anyway, I passed on this for my PS3/360 so I think I'll grab it for PC when it comes out.
I AM playing it on a big screen. Who said I wasn't? Such ignorance, lol.
I recently hooked my PC up to my 40" TV. Was simple enough, no different then hooking a console up to it. I bought a wireless mouse and keyboard (just a cheap set) and a cheap table from Ikea (the DAVE table) and now I can PC game from the couch. It's really simple to get a set up going. On topic, I'll probably end up getting this on PC even though I have it and love it on my PS3. Such an awesome game and I'll gladly support it.
theeg, i can tell you dont have a ps3 cause i dont experience all this that your talking about i really wish you would learn the real reason your little pc games can look good on a big tv, and its not superiority over 'consoles' but ill take my 13 disagrees from you pc nerds for now, but in total be happy with all your agrees from your fellow pc nerds
Dark Souls in 60fps sounds lovely. too bad GFWL had to join the party... :/
....I'm gonna die.
I love the sound of the new track they have added in the trailer. The creature design for the worm and dragon are especially delicious. The chimera/griffin like creature was in the artbook which may mean that other creatures in it's pages (that haven't been added in the console version) may resurface as well. I would love to the Fat Minister and his cohort (which I named Smiley the Sniper) make an appearance....
Witcher 2 for Dark Souls. . .good trade. Enjoy dying PC gamers, and we console gamers (x360 really) will enjoy making out with that red head!
I want this on my PS3 right now! Give me a damn release date From!
OMG I can't wait to play this game. Then suddenly it is announced for GFWL, that scares me.
It looks like only the EU version is using GFWL http://preparetodie.com/de/... Go there and look at the US and EU box arts, and only the EU one has GFWL on it.
