With the release of the digital edition of the Game Informer magazine, subscribers got a chance to look at never before seen Halo 4 screens.
Tell me the first 3-5 screenshots are art works O_O
They are artworks. Lol. First 5 pictures are sketches :)
Wow.... Halo 4 is really looking good... oh wait there just sketches... -ok I'll wait for the gameplay video before I get excited then.
Surely you're joking dude. Only the first 5 screens are concept arts. PLEASE, them me you can differentiate between concept art and in-game shots ...
@ Convas It is pointless to even try with "them". There is something about the word "Halo" that brings out the fear in "them". It just causes "them" to lash out in the craziest ways. Been going on since Halo 1.
Got the mag earlier this morning. Definitely some interesting details. :)
These look like they will get the usual suspects back on the hook for the Halo season.
These most likely are CGI shots from the cut scenes. If this generation has taught us anything it's dont believe the hype because more often than not the end result falls short. I'm more interested in how 343 handles the online portion of the game. Bungie had / has, IMO, the best online netcode for shooters on the 360. It runs like butter.
Halo 4 has in-engine cutscenes.
I dont care about graphics. I care about that fantastic Halo gameplay, thats where its at. I want the "CAMPAIGN CO-OP" to be the best, as it always is. Not that single file co-op side mission co-op found in most games today.
Bookmarking this comment of mine. Why? Because if you people think these are in game graphics captures you need to stop sniffing glue. They are way too detailed, especially the character models, and the lighting effects coupled with that detail would surpass any game I have seen on a console this generation. You guys seriously need to stop fallen for early screenshots and perceiving them as anything but hype. It doesn't matter if the CGI (cutscenes) are using the game graphics engine, it's still a completely different animal than actual gameplay visuals. Seriously, people cant be this ignorant. Oh wait, I almost forgot where I was. Carry on.
Cortana looks kind of differen't. She dosen't look much like a hologram, she looks more realistic. I don't know why but she reminds me a little of Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite facial wise....and I said facial wise...not looks like
That lighting is epic. Looks awesome.
Im just suprised that we see the battle rifle and what looks like a more advanced DMR :S. wonder how the DMR will work in this halo...
I have the weirdest boner right now. Somehow these screens look better than they did from GI's own site.
Cortana looks sexier in Halo 4.
cortana looks more realistic and sexier ;) the lightning looks beast!
I like the old Cortana better. In these pics she just looks insecure and unconfident, which is quite the opposite of what she is.
I am not seeing insecure and unconfident. I am seeing emotion, concern and a better visual look all together. They have obviously brought about a more human representation of her versus just an A.I. non-emotional being.
Halo 4L BRING IT!
Stunning. I'm definitely starting to think my ill informed opinion of what a Halo game in the hands of 343 would be like, is in fact a load of ignorant nonsense. Fingers crossed but this has me very interested now
@Zhaltan and KingOptimus101 No, no, no, no, Call of Duty has that forgettable 6 hour campaign along with little to no innovation in its gameplay. Hell the only name taht I remember from any CoD game is Price and who knows what purpose he plays in. On the other hand, Halo has a story which soon developed into a universe which went into comics, anime, books, and much more. Who cares if Halo is milked? Tomb Raider, CoD, Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy, Super Mario, Zelda, Madden, Grand Theft Auto, have been selling for yearly basis and you don't see anyone complaining about them (well except CoD and Madden actually). Lol I'm actually curious to know if you've been buying "milked" games without you realizing being a hypocrite.
First of all I don't like COD, Madden, or Any of Nintendo kid games. Second of all Final Fantasy has only seen two releases this gen for PS3/360. Gran Theft Auto isn't milked to death like Halo because GTA IV release like 4 Years ago and in that time we've seen Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo Wars, Halo Reach, & last year the remastered hd of Halo 1. Rockstar is just now getting to GTA V in that time they've made Red Dead 2, LA Noir, and Max Payne 3 all completely different games. Tomb Raider, really, last time we saw Tomb Raider was 2008 its 2012 and Tomb Raider 2012, Bioshock Infinite, AC III, and The Last Guardian will be ten times better than Halo 4 this year.
So 6 Halo games since 2007 including one remake is considered as milking.... ... then how about 6 God of War games since 2007: 2 for the PS3, 2 for the PSP and then the first two games on a bundled HD remake for the PS3 as well. Talk about milking, huh? remaking a 2007 game in 2009 sounds to me pretty much like a textbook definition of milking. And I'm not even counting the upcoming rumored GOW4 which will add to the tally or the GOW betrayal phone game. At least in the case of Halo MS didn't go as low as releasing a phone based game, and fans of the series only had to stick to home consoles if they wanted to play the entire series without missing on anything. A few other notable offenders: Killzone - 5 games since 2004 Uncharted - 4 games since 2007 Socom - 10 games since 2002 Ratchet - 11 games since 2002 Halo sits comfortably alongside these with 8 games total since 2001. But KingOptimus101 speaks like true fanboy so he'd probably be too blinded to actually see this fact. As for Zha1tan, don't know if he's a fanboy - maybe just a troll. He obviously never played a Halo game if he thinks the campaign is 6 hours (or at least on a proper difficulty level) and didn't notice the big differences between each iteration (In the last 3 games we didn't even play the same lead character and the gameplay changed drastically because of class changes and various other changes). And this doesn't even have to do anything with this specific link. Go troll somewhere else and let people feast on the screenshots.
Nintendo kid games? I guess that explains you immaturity - you're obviously a 15y/o...
@Humbleopinion Why are you counting games that weren't even made from the same developers? And why are you counting games on Hand helds to consoles and acting if they were the same thing. As far as I'm concerned there was only 1 God of war game released this gen and that was GOD of war 3. Remakes are remakes. Same with uncharted why are you blending the PS vita version of uncharted to the first three games? Ratchet and clank is a milked series. There was Halo 3, halo 3 ODST, Halo reach, Halo wars, and now Halo 4. It is a little milked but it doesn't mean its bad. They can milk the game all they want as long as they turn out to be of high quality. I love the Halo series and I want it to continue. But YOU are just as big of a fanboy than kingoptimus, possibly bigger.
Hmmm.. I always find it funny when people say Halo is milked. During ten years 4 games, one standalone add-on, and spin off rts. And then you have the tenth anniversary edition of first one.. Have you played it? It's propably the best HD-remake to date that is available to consoles. Instead just scaling the game up and throwing old PC port textures in, they actually went the effort to rebuild the game, and stay true to the original, that's true fan-service, not milking. Hell, first Halo's campaign is still more dynamic, and better paced than most modern fps-games. First Halo game was revolution in console-gaming, and every sequel has improved from previous one, Bungie has always been one step ahead of it's competition content wise, was it custom features, replay theatres, online features, co-op features, campaign structure, etc, that talk of milking just sounds funny.. And saying games that has not been released yet is better than game X, specially if they are totally different, must make it true, every body will love The Last Guardian, and Assassin Creed III, you know, becouse they just are better games.. (sarcasm, just to make clear^^) Subjectivity kids. I know it makes you the cool kid of the.. Well what ever your part of, to mock popular series, or even cooler if it is at the other company's plastic box that you don't own, but it really doesn't. Let's leave the milking accusations to where they belong and we actually have reasons to call it milking, to Activision for example, and leave good devs like Bungie alone.
@Almir908 Don't you know what Milking refers to? Continuously trying to get more and more from a product. You can look at it as a bad thing or a good thing. If you continue milking even after the point that the "milk has ran dry" then that would be a bad thing. If you can improve on the product and continue to progress forward with it then not a bad thing at all. The Halo franchise has taken the Halo series and moved it into many directions. Master Chief was the main focus at start and a few games have veered away from him and looked at Halo as a true story. With Halo Wars giving you a totally different battle from Master Chiefs and ODST and Reach presenting the work horse of the battle and allowing you to see the fight through their eyes. Now Halo 4 has gotten us back into Master Chiefs story line and presenting us a chance to see the humanity of a man who has been faced with nothing but conflict and battle. I am totally ready for this next trilogy. And until we see Master Chief vs Jason then I don't see the Halo series as jumping that shark yet.
@Almir908, Don't you find it hilarious that you're actually asking me not to count "games from different studios" or "remakes", where at the same time you didn't even bother to ask KingOptimus why he's counting remakes and games from different studios when he call the Halo franchise "milked"!? After all, Halo Wars, Halo Reach, Halo Anniversary (which is also a remake) and the upcoming Halo 4 are from four different studios: Bungie, Ensemble, Sabre, and 343. Yet you had no problem with other people counting them and even counting them yourself. This kind of blindness and selective vision when talking about some franchises while ignoring others is exactly what defines a fanboy. I on the other hand never claimed that any of the franchises are "milking", I simply applied to these games the same (delusional) logic which KingOptimus101 applied to Halo and noticed how nicely Halo fits alongside them. But if you ask me for my own opinion, I don't consider any franchise milked as long as the developers can still pump out amazing games, be it Halo or any other franchise in that list (although each had their ups and downs). If it keeps the high quality it's not milking. Not to mention, in the case of Halo itself it's been 5 years since the last time people saw the Master Chief, and everything else was just spinoffs. If waiting 5 games between each iteration of the main story and character is milking, then I don't know what isn't milking. (Well, perhaps I do: Duke Nukem isn't milking. And look how that turned out...)
Those screens are soooo good! If the very first picture is what we should expect out of this forerunner world, I'm amazed. The elites look gorgeous (in a sick weird way lol). Good job 343 on the campaign side. Now, can you please clear up all the Multiplayer hoopla going around? Thanks! :D
very impressive! lets see Master Chief move in motion plz!
Sweet looking great been on reach again lately you forget how fun it is when you have been playing other multiplayer games.
I've gone back to playing Reach. I haven't played it since christmas because of other games but I have to admit it is my third favourite shooter after RFOM and Halo CEA. Hopefully Halo 4 will become another one of my top favourites.
Nice use of colour!
Well with people from top companies like konami, Guerrilla games, combined with pixar and a female ver of John carmack. This game should be the best graphics on 360.
Don't forget oconnor and a bunch of ex bungie people. 343 Ind has a buttload of talent and most came from bungie.
Interesting that the Covenant are actually in it. The alliance pretty much broke up in Halo 3
Yeah, I'm surprised too, but these covenant may be just part of a small salvage fleet that may have broken up with the main covenant or something.
Could be a possibility, but during the opening level Cortana speculates that it could be a rogue salvage party of Covenant still hostile towards humans. EDIT: I'm blind, didn't see the above post. :P
Similar to how enemy Japanese forces that were found abandoned and separated from their line of communication after the war. Still fighting the enemy even though the war was over.
the ingame portion looks to be what we expected of a Next Gen Halo! Even more so than Reach! 343 Industries have been doing there homework on engine optimization and building! :-) Color me impressed for the first time by a Halo title on looks alone!
I must admit, I like what I'm seeing here
This game is looking fantastic! Graphics are at least 2X better than Reach.
I have to admit, seeing this and the X0 version of Witcher 2, I didn't think X0 could pump graphics like this out. Very impressive. Nice to see they are talking the serie seriously, Halo remake was very, very impressive, and this looks impressive too.
I'll definitely check this one out. I haven't enjoyed the series so far because I couldn't buy into the story. With a new developer at the helm, I'll try it.
The lighting, ...Reminds me of Killzone... <_<
Halo = FPS for kids... http://www.gamedemption.com...
