Dragon's Dogma: Capcom Reveals More On The RPG Features, Though it’s Not An RPG

Today Capcom released the 4th trailer describing Dragon’s Dogma progression system. Since the announcement of the game Capcom has been clear about the games genre, stating that it's an action game, not an RPG. Ironically, Dragon's Dogma has everything that makes up a great RPG.

Fuckin' capcom, at least know how to label the genres of your own games. It's a freakin' "Action RPG".

Next thing you know Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom are Fight Simulators and not just Fighting games.

Yeah.
I played this at TGS. You level up by killing things. That plus the other stuff = action RPG to me. Open world, sure; monster hunting, yeah that's there too. But dude, it's also an RPG ^^;;

Also LOL thegameheadz. I'll never forget when Bobby McCool was SO SURE that FF7 Remake would be announced at TGS and got mad at everyone who told him it wouldn't.

They know how to label games. The game isnt an rpg. Its an action adventure,.

Most of which have rpg elements like okami, zelda

You guys are going at it the wrong way . If they labelled it as a clear cut rpg , many would come out of the woodworks to criticize and nitpick its rpgs aspects .

Even more so when people were trying to compare it to Skyrim , only to possibly be later dissapointed from the misplaced expectations .

Besides you level up in pretty everything now . if they say it's an action adventure game then it is probably is .

Most big battles so far are more about action gaming tropes , with even a few DMC moves , and climbing on the right spot , than cranking up the right level skills and spells .

Capcom reveals its PC game [digital] sales overshadow console, and it's only growing

The earnings reports of Capcom's Fiscal year 2024 showcase the growth of PC over console, with 60% of game sales being made on the former.

What’s interesting is that, given how well their games sell, it’s very likely most of them fall into the 25/75 revenue split bracket. The larger ones, like Monster Hunter, are in the 20/80 bracket.

So even accounting for the vastly superior regional pricing on PC, I wouldn’t be surprised if revenue-wise from digital sales, both platforms are close, or if PC is ahead as well.

Yes PC is the biggest platform and it has definitely improved as a home console of sort plug and play. It's the only platform with actual freedom for gamers with modding. I was a console gamer for over 38 years and now I only play on Pc. Whether you are buying pre-built or building it yourself it's now easier than ever before to jump in

And my experience with pc gamers has been excellent, they are helpful with any questions on pc boards

As a gamer who also loves replaying his old favorite titles, possibly with a few mods as well, I can’t imagine ever getting another console.

Profchaos19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

They spoke about resident evil and monster hunter I would actually find the monster hunter breakdown more interesting tbh as I've always felt like this game would be at home on PC

but for resident evil it's always felt like a PlayStation mainstay despite having exclusivity elsewhere likely because it was where I first played it. The game feels like it's begging to be played lights off in the loungeroom late at night or also in VR I've never been as scared as I was playing re7 in VR

Is this really suprising? Looking at the evolution of the Switch, X|S and Playstation 5?

Eonjay18d ago

The biggest cause is probably the lack of game purchases on the Xbox platform. Also keep in mind this is only digital sales so there is a chunk of sales not being shown here.
