Halo 3: Behind the Scenes

Bungie has realeased a short documentary about what it took to make the halo 3 anouncement trailer and some extra footage.

"The making of the Halo 3 trailer was one of those cool, fun little islands of frantic activity in the otherwise regimented, disciplined stream of production. Jim McQuillan, our long time partner at Film Oasis and now full-time Bungie employee, was on hand to document the activity and behind the scenes antics of the making of the trailer."

"In this fascinating short, you'll see some of the teamwork, thought processes and imagination that went into this Halo 3 teaser. You'll see the actual orchestra and choir session, some of the in-studio production work and interviews with some of the key folks who worked on the E3 presentation. You won't see everyone - lots of folks who slaved over hot keyboards to make this trailer a reality were simply too busy to be interviewed - and to them, our heartfelt appreciation."

DAMN it really is all in-game within the engine...

This is what Halo 3 indeed playable is going to be. That's mind-blowing. So the list of games to get is getting longer for sure:

Gears of War
Halo 3
Assassin's Creed
Forza 2
Viva Pinata

This 3rd and final part, I am really looking foreward to it! It's in Afrika the scenes from the trailer, that's for sure. And at the end the world will be no more. I am sure that the end of Halo 2 Chief saying: "I am going to finish this fight" will be the last scene in Halo 3, where the world will be blown up and Chief will be:

1. Blown up with it and be at the side of Artana the 'ghost'. I bet she is a human mind living on in a computerhologram. Chief's a human also deep underneath his technological suit so why not

2. Just can get away with it's rocket with some humans that are left to start a new world somewhere else. Saying: "This was the way the world ends... And a new one to begin"

3. Will be launched by the big beam you see at the end of the trailer and gets beamed through the Halo back in time to prevent the way the world is ending in Halo 3. As a human again he is.

That's all about I can think of that will happen. Feeling my water one of the idea's will be pretty close but just a year or so to wait and find out :)

Mmhhh that's really not to anwser I think because they're totally different games.

But anyhow, I think nothing can compete with Gears of War in which genre whatever. Or one just doesn't like 3rd or 1st person shooters.
Viva Piniata is just some sort of evolved Sims. I think that game is funny, but I never play it. Too little action over a too long period.

So I'll just stick with Forza 2 and Gears of War for this year and Halo 3 for 2007 I think :)

Assassin's Creed will be on 360 and PC also, it's a timed exclusive on PS3. Ubisoft won't make total exclusives and let's say they are quit charmed being the main supplier of some great games on 360 that sell really well like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. On top of that off the record multiple employees of Ubisoft have stated that it will be for 360/PC also.

Yepz, I think the 360 has more GOOD exclusives. Not those games based on CGI that look like PS2 games with some blur to discover it's less graphics then shown on CGI footage E3 2005, like that Motorstorm overhyped saying nothing game. Or even worse, Killzone 2 which after footage CGI that is not possible to get in realtime has dissappeared completely suddenly.

Get Gears of War and a 360, thats Killzone 2 CGI running in realtime there!

The only two allright games on there are then MGS4 and GT5. Both sequels, we've seen that before. Furthermore, MGS4 has to be ones genre, which has 2 seconds gameplay and then 30 seconds movie, again 10 seconds gameplay 2 minutes movie. It's a strange Japanese boring concept, but it's your party.

The 360 just gets more new and real GOOD exclusives:

Gears of War (you'll never get that on your PS3)
Forza 2 (which as Forza 1 is, better then the GT series)
Halo 3 (biggest franchise ever)
Viva Piniata (so original Japanese can't be, the'll copy it probably)
Too Human
Lost World
Alan Wake
Fable 2
Prey

and on and on. And gamers don't want a BetaRay videoplayer that can do some games on top without great exclusives. Didn't the PS lost their biggest one, the GTA series also? :)

Personlly I think I will like Viva Pinata better. But In my last post, I didn't mean to say that it will get better than GoW, because, as you say, we can't compare those games to each other. But for me I'm more excited about Viva Pinata than GoW.

I hate how they kept saying that it was in-engine. I don't doubt that it was, but I'm wondering why they don't mention that it was rendered in real time. Obviously the in-engine cutscenes will look this good, but obviously you're not going to be controlling Master Chief when he walks to the edge of the cliff and whatnot. Regardless, the first trailer was cool, but I was a little let down when it was released because it didn't really show anything or say anything about the story. I enjoyed the behind the scenes video more.

that's how bungie wanted the trailer to do. Not show you anything, just get you ready. They're gonna be showing a lot more stuff in due time. I disagree with the realtime stuff because they give you several perspectives of him walking. Which mean's it's 3D. Cutscenes are 2D like Pixar, stuff you can only have one angle view on. Like MGS4, but that's another argument.

If you all saw the documentry, then you should of noticed the sign with one of the small covenant troops. Now with that in mind why would that sign be on earth? Honestly I believe Masterchief came back to earth, but to a Covenant earth!!!! Look at it again and pay attention to the sign. Another thing is that all Covenant were drawing themselves to the object waiting for something or someone. Grant it everything seems to take place in Africa, but who's, is it their's or our's????

I can't wait for this game. I guess Madden 07 and GOW to hold me over, OH YEAH and some HEXIC HD.

You probably haven't seen the trailer on the 360 itself and know that it is in realtime ingame engine. With the music and all it's just plain great. And be sure, it will go beyond Halo 2 the best FPS up to date.

This was nowhere near close to the around 9 minute trailer that Konami showed at E3 for MGS4, in my opinion. But I agree with the above poster, I think what's soured the Halo franchise for me is all of the retarded Halo fanboys out there, there is more to FPS's than Halo! It is a well made franchise and I enjoy playing it, but then I get online and it just sucks reading a lot of nonsense from people claiming that every other FPS is teh suxorz.

Back to the video, I guess if this is one of your favorite games, then the video would be much more exciting when you first hear the Halo theme and see the Master Chief. Me, I just screamed, "that's it?!" at my pc when I first saw it.
