You Don’t Really Want An Assassin’s Creed: Japan

Kotaku - Assassin's Creed games can be set in any place at any moment of history. For a time, fans thought the clues in the early games ensured that Assassin's Creed II or maybe Assassin's Creed III would be set in Japan, the player's assassin taking on the role of a ninja or other great martial artist.

Maybe it could have happend, but it wouldn't have been good enough, the game's creative director told me.

Then he's an idiot. I would have loved an AC game set in Japan. I'd imagine Japanese gamers would actually BUY this game.

I want Throwing stars, Katanas, Tanto blades, Nunchacku, Kusari-Kama, Shuko hand claws, Throwing Spikes, Caltrops to slow those pesky guards down when chasing me!

The possibilities for weapons are very high. Instead, we are being given a gun and an axe... That takes away from close quarters which the AC games take into tradition. Bad move imo.

ZippyZapper2517d ago

There are like a billion action games that come out of Japan with "Katanas, Tanto blades, Nunchacku, Kusari-Kama, Shuko" every year.

ZIPPYZAPPER... YOU SIR, SERVED.

IF you want games in Feudal Japan you can play the Genji or Way of the Samurai series. Both turned up quite crap (or crab, in case of Genji...) so I'm actually more happy with an American revolution setting. Can't recall any game I played in that setting, so it's obviously more original.

To be honest I was hoping more for AC:China if it ventured to Asia.

SnakeCQC2518d ago

how a bout china where it follows that assassin that went to ezio for advice before he died

KwietStorm2518d ago

I don't really want Kotaku telling me what I do and don't want in my gaming.

Getowned2518d ago

Well if you read the article, which you didn't you would have learned that it was a quote by "Alex Hutchinson, who started overseeing the ACIII project in early 2010" basically it's the assasins creeds devs that don't want to set the game in japan at any time in history at all.

This is what happens when you only read the title.

KwietStorm2518d ago

It was a joke, a play ON THE TITLE. Didn't mean to offend you.

Getowned2517d ago

I wans't at all offended my good sir, but if that was truely a joke it was a horrible one.Just tired of people only reading the tittle and then leaving a comment. Not that I'm defending kotaku I don't really have an opinion on the matter I don't use the site, but in general it seems as if only two out of ten people actually take the time to read a article. No hard feelings mate :)

Regent_of_the_Mask2518d ago

Kotaku is garbage. No point in giving that pathetic blog any hits.

Swiggins2518d ago

You mind giving some reasons you feel that way friend?

mttrackmaster382517d ago

I think it's funny how everybody hates on the sites who give opinions they don't agree with. So petty.

SilentNegotiator2517d ago

You know what I disagree with? Doctoring videos to make it look like an upcoming game will have 2x as long of loading times as it has (and claiming the source to be a fansite that never had the video posted up). That's reason enough to have zero respect for Kotaku.
