Devil May Cry 4 Hands-on: Played as both Nero & Dante to the end

GamesRadar writes:
"The release of Devil May Cry 4 is a little over a month away now, and we've played through a near-complete version of the game from start to finish. We've unlocked the true potential of Nero's demon arm, we've blasted through hordes of demons with the transforming Pandora gun and we have a pretty good idea of why Nero and Dante look so much alike. And although we can't tell you about all of it just yet, we can shed some more light on a lot of what's waiting for you when the game hits stores on Feb. 5."

Hopefully this is more like DMC1 than DMC2. Still, I don't feel like it will be as classic and grand as original. More like DMC3 at best which was still great IMO.

You just gave away that Nero &#(*&^!$_#&%)#& ;#)$*! GOOD FRICKIN JOB, YA JERKS!

WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT???!!!'s edited...haha.

I hope you like it now.

Seriously though...that sucks so badly! I know you could pretty much tell that, but they confirmed it! I'M SO MAD!

I played NGS and God of War for the action! I played HS for the storyline!

Keowrath4037d ago

Dude, edit your post man! I thought there was gonna be spoilers after reading the introduction here on N4G so I left it alone.

2 posts down and you've just blurted out what I was trying to avoid. I know you probably didn't mean to but remove the giveaway from your post for anyone else trying to avoid spoiling the story.

Azures4037d ago

Really? Is it that shocking or game ruining?

I play RPGs for a story, action games like this for the killing.

Keowrath4037d ago

Bubbles for doing the right thing man =)

I play all games for their story, some are better than others. But DMC4 looks to have a bit more of an interesting story than the previous blast-a-slash-a-combo-a-thons.

i see them more as brothers maybe? haha.. they already have whats his name too..

anyways, i can pretty much guess the story after watching that trailer they put on psn however long ago. my guess is that Nero goes crazy after they kidnap kyrie, and subsequently, she dies, (as revealed in the trailer) and he becomes evil 60% of the way through, and cue Dante to come in and take him out

hopefully it'll be good, like 1 and 3. however, they dropped the difficulty down a few notches. i'm disappointed at that.

Azures4037d ago (Edited 4037d ago )

I never found the 3rd game to be that difficult, even at its hardest. These types of games are all about challenge though so if you can't hang with the difficulty than dial it down for yourself; put ego on hold to play the game.

Too bad they don't have A.I. that can adapt beyond the highest level of programmed difficulty.

MK_Red4037d ago

Actually I'm happy about lowered difficulty. I'm all for hard games but I really don't want all hack-n-slash games to be real hardcore hard like Ninja Gaiden.

Azures4037d ago (Edited 4037d ago )

DMC was and is supposed to be a hardcore action game, not a hack-n-slash. Like I said if you can't hang then put yourself on Easy and play the game; people just feel like they're being a wuss or something by picking easy difficulty.

Guy below me, DMC3 did NOT have dumb A.I. and was made even stronger in the U.S. version of the game.

"Actually I'm happy about lowered difficulty. I'm all for hard games but I really don't want all hack-n-slash games to be real hardcore hard like Ninja Gaiden."

You disappoint me, man. Challenging (where actual SKILL is involved - DMC and God of War both have dumb AI) games like Ninja Gaiden are what is lacking today in games. I'm really tired of easy titles. Regardless, I still look forward to DMC4.

MK_Red4037d ago

Don't get me wrong. I love challenge and Ninja Gaiden is pure awesomeness in our easy to finish filled industry but I really don't want all of these types of action games to be really difficult because that would need more time to master and finish. I hardly have time.

So I want few games like Ninja Gaiden to be really challenging and fun while I can finish titles like DMC4 easier since I love them more for their stories.

well effing done gamesradar i could tell it from the first paragraph

"and we have a pretty good idea of why dante and nero look so much alike"

capcom should kill you for this i mean i kinda suspected it but i still wanted to find out on my own

LeonSKennedy4Life4037d ago

I know! I want to shoot them all!

LeonSKennedy4Life4037d ago

Did you just say Ninja Gaiden was harder than Devil May Cry 3?

You're kidding...

It's above Ninja Gaiden on EVERY "hardest games of all-time" list! Seriously, look it up!

Ninja Gaiden was a cake-walk for me. The AI wasn't necessarily was just really fast. Once you get the attack pattern down, it's SO EASY! Devil May Cry has multiple TYPES of enemies at once...which confuses you! It was all they could do last generation though. I can't wait to see what they do this time!

Azures4037d ago

Don't expect it to be anywhere near as hard as 3. Capcom was a different company a few years ago.

MK_Red4037d ago

I don't know which one was harder but both of NG and DMC3 were insanely hard for me :(
Still, as Azures said Capcom is much different now and DMC4 will probably be no harder than DMC2.

heyheyhey4037d ago

actually dmc3 wasnt that hard if you turned it into an rpg- i had to replay the first couple of mission loads until i get enough upgrades and orbs to tackle the later missions- the giant worm took me ages, NG wasnt that hard for me but that was because i liked the combat system much better and it was easier to evade attacks and stuff

MK_Red4037d ago

Good tactic :)
And agreed on NG's control and combat system. It was much better and more fluid yet seriously precise. Can't wait for NG2.

gunnerforlife4037d ago

why sont u lot try and play DMDM from the beginning with ur life very low:D then tell me wats harder DG on its highest dificulty or DM on DMDM

Keowrath4037d ago

@ BloodySinner. I disagree with your point. I found DMC on Dante must Die mode more difficult than Ninja Gaiden on Master Ninja (not by much) but you're outta your head if you think DMC is easy. You played through DMC on the hardest difficulty right?

Both games are up there as my favourite action games ever and mainly because of the challenge. I felt a real sense of achievement for completing them on their harder difficulties.

Then there's Shinobi on PS2 man that game was a killer. Only ever completed it on Normal but it was dirty with a capital DIRT still loved it though.

I pray that Ninja Gaiden 2 will not be dumbed down for the masses but I don't see it as a massive seller if it does hold a big challenge. Catch 22.

MK_Red4037d ago

I've heard that there will be lots of really hard mode options in NG2 so there is no need to worry :)

gunnerforlife4037d ago (Edited 4037d ago )

u know that DMC is the only game that i actually felt sxcited ones i completed everything mode:D easy, normal, hard,DMDM,HOH. finished the lot of them:D but ones i unlocked DMDM i dident see the need to go back to hard mode or any of the lower level:) just kept it DMDM:D

i hope there loads of different difficulty modes for DMC4

Keowrath4037d ago

Gunnerforlife. I still have fond memories of the final Nightmare battle. Damn that was one seriously badass boss. The amazing feeling of relief the first time I actually beat him in DMDM. Really hoping that No.4 captivates me like the original.

gunnerforlife4037d ago

omg i know how u feel:D:D i was jumping up ond down on ma seat:D he was literally a nightmare to beat loool it took me at least 5 hours just to beat him lool since i beat him ma first time though i havent had another problem beating him:D for me though i have to say the first game was harder then the 3rd one, simply cuz the bosses were smarter
