What If The Next Generation Thinks Video Games are Stupid?

Maybe video games are stupid. Maybe they're junk or trash or action movies, at best. Perhaps they are not at all making the world a better place.

And maybe it's not an old person—some out of touch politician who once bumped into a Pong machine—who will declare this.

Maybe it will be someone young, someone who Occupied Wall Street or someone who is in the exact target market for big-budget video games—they'll be over 17 and under 35 years of age; male; with money. Maybe that person will declare that video games are not worth their time. And maybe there will be people who agree with them.

If they think that then they are retarded.

What If The Next Generation Thinks Video Games are Stupid?

this damn TITLE is stupid.

RyuCloudStrife4412d ago (Edited 4412d ago )

the next generation will not think its stupid. we all play games as little kids it has been happening since we became humans millions of years ago and it won't stop anytime soon

its part of being human we are a social species games are a way to socialize

KING854412d ago (Edited 4412d ago )

Firstly I believe videogames will always have a place in society, and I think I'll always be a gamer, so i don't think they're going anywhere anytime soon.
On a side note I do believe as a society we throw around the word retarded a bit too lossely (being very nice here). The word is offensive in the sense that someone is not retarded, rather an individual may have mental retardation. I am a teacher and the reason I want to point out (not picking on you) this is because people never realize how we negatively place labels on others. In the former statement you're saying this is who a person is; however in the latter statement you're saying this is a condition someone may have. There's a big difference.

I just hope next gen, games will go back to focusing on being games and not trying to be some sort of interactive movie from a wanna-be hollywood producer.

SilentNegotiator4412d ago (Edited 4412d ago )

Simple, we'll tell those kids that our generation was the greatest; that Obama and Bush were great presidents, and that Eminem is way better than their loud new music, and "The Hangover" was a classic, and....

Why must I be a part of this generation? WHY, GOD, WHY?!?!

Oh and you know how that one ruthless dictator is the hero on all the ignorant potheads' shirts? Kony 2012, baby. Get used to that face.

Nope, studies have continually shown that the next generation engages in video games on almost all levels.

I cannot back this up so I'm open to it being total internet conjecture and BS.

That being said, I have heard of a study which found 99% of males between 11 and 17 played video games at least once a day, and that 94% of females in that bracket played video games at least once a day. This includes everything from Angry Birds to Skyrim. This also shows that the industry is going to continue to see growth as this group comes to an age where they have much more disposable income.

Again, not trying to claim that's the be-all-end-all of truths, it could all be completely false, but those are the numbers I have heard.

vortis4412d ago (Edited 4412d ago )

Is this the one you were looking for?
http://www.cinemablend.com/...

I think there's another one but you're right, based on the studies the next generation WILL NOT think games are stupid. It's just the opposite if buying trends, sales data and market growth are anything to go by.

DarkBlood4412d ago

if anyone thought it was stupid its the generation before us, who i like to call the *olden day people* lol

Young_ART4412d ago

Each generation seems to get more and more ignorant,

so i'm lead to believe that in they case they are the ones stupid, not the video games.

Starbucks_Fan4412d ago

Well that would make them stupid ass fools

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
