Hence the 15th may release date.

Mythicninja4413d ago

Available for download now, cannot be played until 2 months from now............ Srsly?

Rageanitus4413d ago

Most likely earlier than 2 months. Apparently as soon as the servers go up for this game the DD's will be able to play.

Kindov a smart move since it gives the incentive to play before "release" and it will give a general idea as to how many servers is needed. Since it will show the percentage of these early users playing online with their friends, and with their data of pre-orders for retail copies they will get a better idea.

Oh man, can you believe it? Diablo III is finally coming out in 2 months! and @TopDudeMan nice avatar

Think about it for a second, weeks ago Blizz announced that over 1 million WoW subscribers opted for the annual pass (which includes a digital download of Diablo III). Now if they only let you download the game from the 15th onwards then they know there are at LEAST 1 million people going to be downloading from their servers at once, that's a huge strain which will only cause problems. So allowing digital downloads early is a very wise thing to do, especially for a game as anticipated as Diablo III.

I suggest you go ahead and pay the $60 and download Diablo III NOW!

I have a funny feeling those with Year long WOW subscriptions and early Digital Downloaders will get to play BEFORE May 15th!

if not then it will be on your HDD/SSD, patched, and ready to go at Midnight May 15th!

They should really drop the DD price to like 50 bucks. Unless uploading a game to a consumer really costs 10$.... which I think not.

Problem is Blizzard/Activision knows it is a premiere title, so they charge it at regular console price, rather than regular pc price.

Some big releases on PC cost 59.99, games like Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur and CoD; in the end it's all about how much the consumer is willing to pay for the product, and I believe most Blizzard fans are willing to pay 59.99$ for Diablo 3. And quite frankly, I believe it is worth it, as from what I've seen and read, the game offers a polished experience and enough content to last for a little while. And I'd rather pay 60$ for a great game than 50$ for a game like the Darkness 2, which was way too short on content for example.

Also, few games are less expensive when buying digital; the PS Store for the Vita is doing it for a couple of games, but usually, the price is the same as the physical media copy.

Finally, for those who think it's weird to allow people to download the game early, I think it's a good idea, as it should allow everyone to play on day one. It should make it easier on Blizzard's servers, and hopefully we won't see a server crash on the day of release.

If I don't save any money buying digital, then I'd rather cost them more money through buying the boxed edition, plus I get whatever goodies are in the box, as well as the box itself to display on my shelf

If it offers anything like diablo2 id pay 150 for it. Played d2 religiously for 4 years straight. Twords the end was offered 1000bucks for my acct.

The Greatest Video Game Comeback Stories in Gaming History

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

thorstein76d ago

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.

Diablo III - Still a Huge Draw in the Face of Diablo IV

Diablo III still works on modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and remains hugely playable a decade after initial release.

Are you comparing a continuously improved 10+ years old masterpiece with the... beta of an unreleased game?

kevco33384d ago

Heh, yeah. There's no comparison in here! Its a commentary on how III is still very playable over a decade later.
