Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 - How did they fair in 2007?

Gamer.Blorge writes: This past year has seen one of the bloodiest fought battles in console history starting to take shape, with all three major players having consoles on the market, and good games starting to be released for all of them. How did each of the big three fair in 2007?

The console market as a whole has probably never been so healthy, with competition rife, and 3 very good consoles on the market. They are also all different, with strengths and weaknesses, and a spectrum of games which appeal to most, if not all of the population.

I'll say that they all did pretty good this year. Most of them had there ups and downs (The overpriced PS3, RROD of the 360 and the delayed Wii's not hitting consumer demand to name a few downs) but the Wii and PS3 (newcommers to this generation) did fairly well this year whilst the 360 had a continuation of great games starting from Gears of War up to Mass Effect (last great game so far).

The PS3, although Sony had a bumpy start, they seem to be back on track and on the road of success with some great exclusives that finally showed up on the console (Uncharted, Heavenly Sword and Warhawk to name a few) and with even more anticipated exclusives to show up on 2008, the PS3 seems to finally see the light on the end of the tunnel.

Conclusion, 2008 would surpass 2007 in every aspect and I can't wait to grab hold on a bunch of exclusives for the 360 and PS3.

I feel sorry for fanatical bandwagoners who are arguing more than playing the great titles of this year.

All spot on.

Mass Effect and Uncharted are easily my two favourite games this year, closely followed by Super Mario Galaxy.

I feel sorry for people that have limited themselves to one console this gen because no matter what one you pick, somewhere you're missing out.

never has so much truth been spoken on N4G

But i must say that all consoles did well in terms of GLOBAL SALES

However things would be very different in 2008

be fankids from the sony camp or xbox fankids... LOL!!! kids these days. i couldn't agree more kuawabara. this was a fabulous year for all the consoles. Wii totally dominated though even with shortages . ninty came out swinging outselling the xbox 360. and PS3 and sony finally got there act together, while MS still had a strong year showing that they can be just as viable as Sony. not bad... MS hitting 14 million and Sony reaching 8 million selling 2 millions in 2 months thats quite awesome. doing it worldwide. 2008 will be an interesting year. and 2007 show how devs can craft excellent game..

bioshock, and mass effect, ratchet and Uncharted, Metroid prime 3, and mario galaxy, and AC and COD4... amzing titles for each of the platforms. i cant wait to see what 2008 brings us, as there are bound to be surprises like 2007 but better for gamers on all platforms

...that gamers won :)

Irrespective of which gaming console you had there were games out there that kept you busy for days (if not weeks), and certainly are going to.

You and Mr. Kuwabara get a bubble.

The only console maker that is resting kicking back on their chair is Nintendo. They don't need games to sell so many systems. They're the only console maker to turn a profit all year long. 360 RRod and they lost there install base lead to Nitendo after already being out a year. 360 fails to create more demand compared to there first year in Japan and Europe. PS3 has slower than expected sales and the system is hard to develop for.

Contact Microsoft because Disney has a movie called "Jump In" Starring Corbin Bleu

Anyways, moving along now.
All three systems did well. of course you can't go through a year with trouble and we've all seen it with the constant fighting over which is better. but 2008 looks to be less arguing and more playing games [lol not really but it can't be as worse as 2007]
