Man i miss Phil for Sony. Well if Microsoft listens to his ideas they will have a lot more exclusives. Either way its not a lose for Sony since they still have a lot of exclusives.

rezzah3428d ago

If you read the comments above, they say that this guy left Sony many years ago to join Atari. Then he left Atari to join Microsoft.

So there is no way this guy had recent involvement with how Sony is running their business.

Simon_Brezhnev3428d ago

I know he been left Sony. I just said i miss him doing Sony E3 he was entertaining to me. A lot of stuff Sony do is thanks to him.

princejb1343428d ago

lol he left atari already
didn't he leave sony for atari like 2 years ago

@Simon_Brezhnev

Hmmm... not dizzing on the xbros here now that Harrison is going to work for MS, but the dude wanted to pull out a wii-station, probably made "business sense" or something, but screw that, the core is what drive the the industry, no the casuals that follow the hot thing of the season,

Tommykrem3428d ago

Wrong, he set Sony's agenda for this generation. Social connectivity, game 3.0, acquiring studios. Harrison's plan, baby. The guy is a genius, and I'd love to see him back on stage no matter for who. If this had happened three years ago when I was a bigger fanboy I'd be dead by now.

gamingdroid3428d ago

@Tommykrem

Phil Harrison is one of the guys I respected at Sony. Kind a surprised he joined MS, but I guess that is a win-win for them both.

BattleAxe3427d ago

He sure has hit rock bottom, going from Sony's world Wide Studios, down to atari and now all the way down to some studios that make barely any games at all.

MaxXAttaxX3427d ago (Edited 3427d ago )

He's actually been working for Atari. And if anything, it's a loss for Atari.
This has NOTHING to do with Sony.

Tommykrem3427d ago (Edited 3427d ago )

@some people above
Actually he hasn't been working for Atari recently either. He's been working as a private business investor, investing in some free to play games if I'm not mistaken. I'm following him on Twitter ;)

Actually, he's the reason I got Twitter in the first place.

Phil's finally got on the winning team.

yeah true, i do miss phil offering those E3 speeches. Hopefully we'll begin to see him again.

Also I'm sure I read somewhere, that back when he used to work for Sony, he was planning on making the gaming giants collaborate in some form of way- like cross platform play. Hopefully with his new position in the company, microsoft may be more lenient to the idea

xer03428d ago

It looks like this E3 is shaping up to be rather exciting.

I'm sure we'll have news of the next-generation systems. And I'm not talking about Wii U.

sikbeta3428d ago

If you think that because of this guy, you're wrong and why not wii-u? :P

xer03427d ago

Because we already know enough about Wii U.

brettyd3428d ago

Maybe he will help MS get their heads out of their asses and make some actual games, enough with this Kinect BS. Good luck Phil.

glennco3428d ago

chances are kinect2 will actually be worth getting so i doubt MS will be changing their ways anytime soon. there is no doubt it has potential, it is just rubbish right now. now if they could just release a motion dildo thing with kinect2 we might finally have something. best of both worlds. i'll still use my controller more anyway so i don't even know why i'm writing this.

kinect2 + motion wand + head tracking video glasses would finally get that VR going they promised us all those years ago

Soldierone3428d ago

That won't happen since Sony patented motion tracking on the camera with a controller. If MS did that they would need to pay Sony for each and every unit.

dcbronco3428d ago

Well I guess MS will be sued for ME3.

Rolento3428d ago

Judging by his previous history, he'll advertise things that will never actually make an appearance.

WayneKerr3428d ago

He got the sack from Sony because he told the bosses they were stuck in the past and he was right.

gypsygib3428d ago

How do you know this? Please link a source, I'd would love to read up about that because it is/was definitely true.

undisputed3428d ago

Do you have any articles stating this? Oh...wait.

Tito083428d ago (Edited 3428d ago )

Well, Sony did have a brilliant past last gens with PS1/2, FYI!!!!

Disccordia3428d ago

I'm on my phone so can't link but its pretty much true. Phil wanted to push ahead with network products such as home and play share create but his Japanese bosses were not happy with that direction. Japan in general is still stuck in the past when it comes to online experiences.

Neko_Mega3428d ago

Stuck in the past?? So why did he go to Microsoft if that was the case? Seeing how developers are more happy with PS3's bluray because of space, then 360's DVD's that have a 1.6GB copyrights prottect.

I'm guessing this going by your number of disagree's. Mean you have no idea what you are talking about.

YodaCracker3428d ago

Going by his disagrees? Ha! Don't make me laugh. The only thing you can tell by disagrees on this site is if someone is a Microsoft supporter or a Sony supporter without even having to read their post.

MariaHelFutura3428d ago

^^^
Some people here want all consoles to do well.

3428d ago
dcbronco3428d ago

Neko, the Cell was forward thinking. But it didn't work out. Blu-ray was stupid(cost, losses, little difference from much cheaper HD DVD). All of that space isn't used on most games. More than 95% of games released don't use it.

So Sony somehow made 40 gigs cost them 5 billion dollars. Apparently they didn't see that coming.

andibandit3427d ago

@Neko_Mega

The hardware for the consoles was Mostly set in stone back in 2005-2006, so one must conclude that the ideas the Phil wanted to promote were based on software. Of course i dont blame you for not being able to interpret that since you are already battling that HUGE Sony ego of yours. Good luck with that.

NarooN3428d ago

Wayne is right, why is he getting so many disagrees? I remember reading about this way back when he left.

Phil (as well as others) were trying to focus on the PS3, but some Sony reps were trying to get him to start working on ideas for the PS4, which was pretty ridiculous, especially way back then. He wasn't a big fan of their management or crazy ideas, and he was pretty much right. Sony had a pretty bad start with the PS3 thanks to dumbass ideas and timing.

Good thing Kaz Hirai and others are there, since they've turned it around, but yeah, that's the gist of it.
