Re-download Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand on PS3 tomorrow to fix weapon animation bug

MP1st - Battlefield 3 servers should be back up and running across all platforms after a period of stability maintenance yesterday. On top of this, it seems that some bug fixing for PS3 users was also in the works.

wtf? why not a patch? lol

Hufandpuf2413d ago

The patch might come with expansion prolly.

cyborg69712413d ago

Because its specific to b2k weapons.

Pandamobile2413d ago

Because patching a console game takes a lot of time and money.

nolifeking2413d ago

Why would it be anymore expensive than a pc patch? If anything is holding a console patch back it would be the approval process.

Pandamobile2412d ago (Edited 2412d ago )

They're harder to roll out and take more time, therefore money.

nolifeking2412d ago

What you linked specifically states "closed systems." with no mention of how much a pc patch cost to roll out. Even still you use someone who is playing the roll of pauper, so even half that would still seem steep to him.

"Those systems as great as they are, they're still closed", Schafer told Hookshot. "You have to jump through a lot of hoops, even for important stuff like patching and supporting your game. Those are things we really want to do, but we can't do it on these systems. I mean, it costs $40,000 to put up a patch – we can't afford that! Open systems like Steam, that allow us to set our own prices, that's where it's at, and doing it completely alone like Minecraft. That's where people are going."

If there isn't a fix for PS3 input lag there won't be any reason for me to re-download anything.

suicidalblues2413d ago

How bad is the lag when you get it? I've yet to experience it and have used both the dualshock and sixaxis controllers.

Just curious as to whether it doesn't register the input or does the action, albeit at a later time.

Holeran2413d ago

The input lag is terrible. If you never played the beta then you might not notice it but there are videos all over youtube that you can watch. After you do a stick input to move your gun barrel it takes 270 milliseconds to actually start the barrel moving. In a fps this is not acceptable. BFBC2 has 110 milliseconds so does KZ3 where games like COD have 80 milliseconds. I'm not asking for 80 milliseconds but they need to get it closer to the 110 mark at least. If you play PS3 then you have it but might be used to it, where as I can't get used to it and it has ruined the experience for me. DICE has confirmed it is a code problem and say they will fix it eventually but their eventually might be when the polar ice caps melt for all I know.
