David Jaffe couldn't care less about next-gen

David Jaffe, the man behind God of War and Twisted Metal, says he "couldn't care less" about the next generation, instead choosing to focus on the game experience, he has told Edge magazine.

Asked if he was ready for the next wave of consoles, Jaffe said: "I couldn't care less about next-gen. I started at Sony Imagesoft doing Super Nintendo and SEGA Genesis games, and I went through that to PS1, then PS2, PS3, Vita... You go through the cycle enough and you realise today's 'Oh my f***ing God' is tomorrow's 'Ehh, whatever'.

He's starting to sound apathetic, maybe the guy needs a break.

GOW1 was AWESOME, after that he's been making safe bet after safe bet with his game choices, he needs to try something totally new i think.

Abash2412d ago

Twisted Metal PS3 is awesome, so this guy needs to make more games and not take a break. He has shown he has a lot of new ideas for some new IPs anyways

osamaq2412d ago

and Next-Gen does not care about him...

360GamerFG2412d ago

Judging by his recent game, he doesn't care about current gen either.

AusRogo2412d ago

If you are talking about twisted metal, fuck off.

NAGNEWS2412d ago

you ever considered that maybe its you trolls out there the reason for all of that/this?

you guys are never satisfied, there is always something to troll about

OhReginald2412d ago

Couldn't careless about next-gen?

So that means he could NOT careless right?

Which means he cares for next-gen.

plmkoh2412d ago

No, it means his care for next-gen is so low, he couldn't go any lower.

Hicken2412d ago

Um.. no. He can't possibly care any less than he already does. In other words, he can't care less. Or couldn't care less, to get the tense correctly.

Anyway, if the snippet of article above is any indication, being around long enough can kinda put you in that mindset. There's always gonna be another generation, and there will be games that need to be made for it. It'll get here when it gets here, and complaining/worrying/demanding won't change that constant.

Meanwhile, make the best game you can for the systems you already have.

i dont care about it either, im not looking forward to dropping $500 (or more) on a new console, the one i have now is working just for me

clearelite2412d ago (Edited 2412d ago )

lol nubs want new consoles. possibly so they can play cod at 1080p 60 fps. If you want fancy graphics, go run crysis on your ubber leet pc.

The only game(on pc) I'm desperately waiting for is counterstike, but i'm sure that's easily overshadowed by the more mainstream BS that people enjoy relishing in.

Casuals are usually quite impressed by fancy visuals.

yes my comment is incoherent, but it's 4:06 am so give me a break.

hellvaguy2412d ago

Somehow I dont think its casuals buying the high end pcs at $1500-$4000 for the visuals.

clearelite2412d ago

I'm actually building a gaming PC myself. I was just getting tired of people on here talking about pushing graphics more than gameplay. Begging for next gen while a lot of games/companies have went down hill as far as creativity goes. When hardware was weaker, devs had to be more clever and the focus was more on on creating the best possible experience with the hardware they had to work with. It's true that there were some great games this gen though, but I really don't want the industry to end up like hollywood.
Also, my comment was based partly on the fact that I had been out all night and was about to pass out.

ape0072412d ago

dude at least have a better avatar than haze, it was a disgrace in design, gameplay and gfx compared to free radical's past games

clearelite2412d ago (Edited 2412d ago )

Yes yes, I do not think they are all casuals. I was merely ranting and generalizing because I would really like to see a resurgence of creative, challenging games like back in the SNES era.

As for haze, I've never actually played Haze. I had always heard about how bad it was and thought it was kind of funny for a Sony "fan" to use it. Kind of like pretending it's badass or something :D

you see, I always hear on here, "We want new consoles", but really, I would like to see more devs focusing on making creative games first. But we are people and we like shiny stuff.

Also, my comment wasn't entirely serious.
