Has BioWare lied to us about Mass Effect 3 DLC?

Prothean character files already on disc.

Looks like crapcom isn't the only ones selling customer's DLC that's already on disk. But I guess people don't mind getting fked over when it comes to EA/Bioware when it comes to ME3 which is why this will become the norm with all EA,crapcom, and many other publishers games in the future.

And people say used games and pirates are ruining gaming. No it's the publishers and developer that are doing a pretty good job on their own.

How can you say that nonsense when Mass Effect fans were already causing a stink about the DLC even before this news that its on the disc. Expect this to cause even more of an uproar

vega2754431d ago (Edited 4431d ago )

Mass Effects fan was making a big stink (as you put it) because we knew that the DLC was already part of the game in the first place and was purposely taken out of the game so EA/Bioware can make a quick Buck. Which they did and now this prove that the fan was right all along and have every reason to make a big stink.

Honestly what did you really think project $10 was just to get at used game sell. Please

I seriously believe that BioWare knew that people would be looking at the coalesced.ini file... They aren't that stupid or blinded by money. Besides, comments on the site are already pointing out that ME2's Kasumi and Lair of the Shadow Broker were already on the disc as assets.

Nonetheless, I am *borrowing* the game for PC. Later when BioWare and EA get their money grubbing issues out of the way and discount it, I'll buy it. Even if I'm no longer playing it when that time comes.

No doubt this will get super hot and have everybody foaming at the mouth, but I ask that you take a look at the comments for the original source.

Just because there are DLC details on the disk doesn't mean that the DLC was finished when it went to press. It means that bits were finished and that putting them on the disk is a smart way of limiting file size when it actually comes to download.

Unless anybody who has actually played the game and gotten the DLC can confirm that the download for From Ashes is in the KBs, I think this whole thing is rather moot.

Fishy Fingers4431d ago

Yup, but people won't need specifics before they start screaming. Few months I'll pick it up in a sale with the DLC anyway, but I can see how worst case point of view, this looks pretty bad for Bioware.

I got the DLC. It was a 600mb+ download.

matgrowcott4430d ago

Thank you. There we have it.

What a sordid development practice.

Nate-Dog4431d ago

I wouldn't be surprised. Casey Hudson said that ME3 was finished about 3 weeks ago and then said about 2 weeks later that the whole DLC was completed after the game was finished when people got angry which means that they took less than 14 days to make it. I find it hard to believe myself.

Nate-Dog4430d ago

I have just realised a slight flaw to my argument in that perhaps it is just the character itself on the disc and not the mission. Still, I doubt Bioware can make a whole DLC in the space of 10 days or so, unless it's a cheap and short DLC.

krazykombatant4430d ago

The CE had the character listed, way back when. No one knew it was a prothean. The script was then leaked and rumours started up, when the DLC was leaked on XBL thats when people flipped their sh*t. A week later after that the game announced to be finished. A week LATER, they stated that the DLC was finished after the game was done... So yeah its just a bunch of BS being feed to the masses, BS that plenty of people buyed up.

What I want to see come monday is the number of people that bought the game new AND bought the From the Ashes DLC. Very interesting to see that.

I love Mass Effect but this practice does need to stop. It's an integrity issue.

If not change the name from "DLC" to something else. Since it's no longer downloadable, why don't they call it:

MDTIPCU - Material on disc that, if bought, can be used

or

ECFMM - Extra content for more money

or

MCFMM - More content for more money

Ideas?
