1UP Examine Blade Runner's Influence on Games

1UP are running a nice feature on Blade Runner, and the influence Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic has, with its bleak urban landscape and exploration of humanity, had on videogames and their settings. While some of the examples drawn seem a bit of a stretch (FFVII, Flashback), others like Kojima's Snatcher and Manhunter make a lot more sense.

The story is too old to be commented.

A great article. Blade Runner is one of my favourite films of all time and I was really pleased with the Final Cut that was recently released.

I am a huge Snatcher fan and I really enjoy the cyberpunk genre, I also enjoyed the Blade Runner adventure game (I still have my boxed copy in immaculate condition) which is an amazing piece of art with beautiful pre-rendered visuals

What's Manhunter?

I didn't know there was a PC game based on the movie and book.
Rise of The Dragon for the Sega CD is kinda Blade Runner-esh

Yeah, I just got the blu-ray special edition of Blade Runner. I've only seen the director's cut.

Why can't Kojima just give us a Snatcher port to the DS or PSP?

to see the influence of this one movie on all the forms of entertainment we have today. The little bit mentioned in this article is a drop in the bucket of all that owes tribute to this absolute classic. Time to order the Final Cut.

I worshiped this game. Played it for days and weeks. The funny thing is that I didn't like the Blade Runner movie as much.
Overall, one of the best but most underrated games of all time.
