Nicktoons MLB 3D, the first baseball game designed for the Nintendo 3DS, has been released by 2K Play and is now in stores.
The game combines the talent and tenacity of baseball's best players with the spunk and sponginess of Nickelodeon's Nicktoons characters, adding a new dimension of fun and depth to the baseball gaming genre.
A gimmicky crossover that strikes out in both presentation and performance, with frustrating mechanics that make it difficult to recommend.

If you absolutely must have a kid-friendly arcade baseball game with Nickelodeon characters in it to play on the go, then maybe you’ll be interested in this game if you have the 3DS. Otherwise, stick with the home console version, it has much better production quality, a better pace, and trying to hit won’t make you want to swing your bat at inanimate objects out of spite.

The similarly inattentive approaches seen in both this and Cars 2: The Video Game leaves me wondering if the respective development teams actually work in the same office. Heh, sort of silly art. Definitely not my kind of game - not in the least, but interesting art nonetheless.
I'm generally wary of licensed sports games, but if it's being made by the same folks who do the regular MLB games, that's a pretty clever way of filling what's probably an important niche.
