Examiner: Wrestlefest is a name that holds a special place in the hearts of many wrestling video game fans. Kind of like how the original NBA Jam and NFL Blitz are cultural touchstones to a very specific time, Wrestlefest is nostalgia in an arcade cabinet. So for the WWE and THQ to bring back that name for the iOS plaform (and later tis year to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3), it's going to come with some built-in goodwill. Then again, anything that brings back memories of teaming up the Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan to take on the Legion of Doom for the tag titles - not to mention a botched Jeremy Piven line - is probably going to get people hyped.
With the busy release month of November finally over, December on the Xbox 360 and PC brings along just a few downloadable titles, as well as a couple pieces of DLC for some big games, and the awesome Far Cry 3.
Warp Zoned writes:
"WWE WrestleFest was originally released for iOS devices back in February with the promise of a future release on the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Arcade. Nine months later, it looks like THQ is finally ready to bring the remade arcade game to consoles."
FINALLY !!! A date !!!
This will be the first wrestling game I've actually bought since the PS1 days.
I've been waiting a long time for this one. Here's hoping it's a Playstation Plus freebie!
When i saw footage of the ios version it looked worse than the arcade counterpart. I hope thq managed to pump it up in the 9 months they had working on it as this was my favorite wrestling game in the arcades...actually, overall for that matter.
