Link Never Speaks...But Should He?

ZU writes: It is a noticed fact that in the Zelda games Link never talks. Even when people talk to him, he doesn’t reply. He just looks at them with his glassy eyes and that somehow seems to convey the right message. Not only with the games’ NPCs either. Link seems to have a fairly diverse personality that is consecrated by his stature, facial expressions and also his grunts when he swings his sword. Therefore, Link conveys his message to the player as well as other characters in the storyline.

The point that I want to make is even though Link’s reserved approach (i.e. choosing not to speak) receives endless mocking and complaints, would the Zelda series be the same if he did unexpectedly choose to jump into conversation? Hopefully we’ll have that clear by the end of this article.

I don't think Link should speak. I always thought his reactions to things were good enough to cover his emotions. But I don't voice acting for NPC's would be such a terrible thing if they had a decent cast.

I agree, somewhat like Skyrim but Link has much more emotion it would be a good mix.

A voice cast should be added to LoZ for the Wii -U

LOTS of things need to change if Zelda wants to be a good franchise again.

Seriously. Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword were all terribly bad.

ChickeyCantor2539d ago

You have terrible taste.

I don't like to sound like a zelda-tripper. But you deserve it.

Gamer-Z2539d ago (Edited 2539d ago )

Your crazy Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were both awesome :P

@Son_Lee

I know i love Zelda Ive played them all the only one i'm not really digging is Skyward Sward that game is wack.

Son_Lee2539d ago

I didn't like them. I played Twilight Princess for SIX HOURS before I got to the first temple. Do we really still need to do meaningless quests at the beginning of every Zelda game? Such ancient design.

A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time are some of the best games every made. Majora's Mask is very good, as well.

jeeves862539d ago

I actually thought TP was extraordinarily easy compared to other games. And it's been a while, but I don't think that it takes six hours to ge tto the first dungeon. Really? Six hours?

beastlysensation2539d ago

hahahah, the best three zelda games you didnt like. WHy? cause when you pressed A awesome didnt happen? i mean, shit man, awesome didnt happen. Link didnt speak? puzzles were too hard for you? you want some more hand holding? my god, gamers these days

You kidding? Do you realize how alone you are in that belief? Those are critically acclaimed games, just because you think they aren't good doesn't make it a fact. Twilight Princess was especially incredible.
