How the Wii U could be the best way to play Wii games

Gaming Gauge writes: "...It was only natural then that one of the first questions asked about the Wii U was whether it would be capable of rendering Wii games at a higher resolution. It turns out that the Wii U will not be able to render Wii games, which left a lot of people disappointed, but there is still a very real possibility that the Wii U can present the optimal way to play Wii games."

It can upscale wii games. They just won't program it to. I want wii games in hd and they better come up with a trophy/achevment type system.

Huh, I never thought about that. That actually makes sense and is really cool. I NEVER play my Wii games on HDTVs, they're simply to blurry and it causes low-res textures.

The Wii U pad will fix this problem. Now we'll be able to finally play Wii games in 16:9 without a drop in graphical fidelity.

I played all my wii games on a 52' hd tv.
Sure it's not optimised, but it didn't bother me.

But I will not play wii-games on the tablet like that. Unless they are classic controller compatible.

Naaaw braw.

I doubt they will let you play wii games on the controller. could be wrong but i got a feeling nintendo wont do it.

its possible depending on the games but i doubt all of them will work new super mario bros wii could work since all there is too it is sideway mote control with the exception of lifting it up for a power attack

The Wii U is made consciously knowing that most gamers have a Wii already. History suggests this would never happen, but I wouldn't write off feature like this just yet.

I get that there isnt much from stopping them making wii games run on the controller, but i can see them using that as a unique selling point for their new games as apposed to backwards compatibility. and they will probably hold back certain games from it.

until the enevitable HD remakes of course.

XBLA Classic 'A World of Keflings' Is Coming to Steam, and There's a Demo

"Back in the innocent days of 2010, A World of Keflings was a fairly popular successor to A Kingdom for Keflings. I even wrote about it a few times in 2012! But the world of humans moved on, and NinjaBee's city-building/adventure game was last seen on the ill-fated Wii U in 2014. Fast-forward to the dark year of 2025, and not only is A World of Keflings coming to Steam, but there's already a playable demo! Perhaps the cheerful, no pressure gameplay that the Keflings bring is just what we need nowadays," says Co-Optimus.
