Tycho lays down the reality of putting mods on the PS3 in response to an email from Mark Rein: "As Huckster General for Epic MegaGames, of course you have interpreted your products with the maximum charity. As a consumer, I've assessed them by a more robust standard. Be sure to send any other tidbits my way in the future, so that I may again separate wheat from chaff."
Or rather, how you can't put mods on the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament III, at least not yet.
Opinion is divided on this one for sure! Is motion blur good for gaming? Why do developers include it?
I hate any game that has motion blur and the first thing I do is switch off the motion blur in games. It just makes me nauseous.
I agree with Alex here, many implementations are terrible but when it is done right it improves the experience.
Alex from GamersFTW writes:
“In all seriousness though, I feel like DOOM’s success will be measured by how much the game has to offer. Graphically it’s looking spectacular, and I’m sure the latest multiplayer trailer caught all of our attention. Personally, the game is beginning to remind me of those late nights playing Unreal Tournament 3, which is totally a good thing. This, in addition to the promise of user-generated content, is making DOOM look like the best first-person shooter I’ve seen in ages.”
The campaign looks brilliant, like a true nostalgia trip to the original DOOM titles of old! The multiplayer equally looks like a trip down memory lane to fast-paced and frantic arena games a-la Quake, and honestly the MP REALLY makes me want to the get game at launch to capitalise on the hype. Problem is I'm not overly fussed with multiplayer typically in games, they can get weary after a while, and buying a game solely for its MP is risky - especially on console - as it's heavily dependant on the community!
Rock to my left, hard place to my right..
EDIT: On the MP note, does anyone know if it'll have bots available, similar to Unreal Tournament 3? I still give that a quick play time to time with bots (and all the mad mutators).
Its basically a "console" ahead, in terms of graphics, of another shooter called Homefront thats getting ready to release. LOL
Great selections as always and they are...
Final Fantasy
Metal Gear Solid
Super Smash Bros.
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Unreal Tournament
Advance Wars
Payday 2
don't you b!tch about your RRoD or the frame rate issues of great exclsuive like Mass Effect.
Biased bullcrap. CAG is better. CAD while crap is better too.
I've been playing UT3 for 4 days straight... it is such a good game that screams Uber PWNAGE..... the graphics in HD are really really good too!
Seriously.. have they made a game?
Until they do, they can stop talking for all I care, really dont care how popular they are with gamers. I didnt even know who they were until the whole Assassins Creed thing went down anyways.
they didnt deliver on their promise at launch hopefully they will soon.
ps you can transfer files from an i pod or just about any mps player/camera etc without hacking lol I suspect most ps3 owners have something they can use
Whole lotta backpedaling and redefining of their own words there.
First they claim the PS3 version has no mod support at all, they did not say the PC versions editor lack it, they specifically called the PS3 version unfinished. Getting the reply that the PS3 version is already fully equipped with the support they now CHANGE their stance and claim they meant that the missing editor feature would nullify the PS3 UT3's mod features (which is BS to be frank)
So instead of coming clean and admitting that they flapped their mouth before they knew for real and more than 2nd hand information they biatch and change their "statement" to fit their agenda. I would expect something like this from a PR department, but not from a webcomic page.
Next blunder is the "memory stick" BS, they interpreted MR's statement about how to get the mod to the box as memory stick only, and completely forgot the USB ports and DiskDrive in the console. Sadly instead of correcting their error they now claim they again meant that it is the spire of evil to ask a customer to use ANY sort of tool to transport the mod to the System and it be only more evil on the 40GB unit... and additionally they failed to know that ipods support the data transfer system to work as an external usb stick if switched to the right mode, no hack needed there, neither some "linux" system, boy what have they been smoking over x-mas?
I really like the comics, and i generally love to read the comments and rants, but this was handled less than perfect by the PA guys. In fact they come across as whiny kids who throw a tantrum over being corrected.
