Why is there an embargo on this info?
Its not like they can be worried about it detrimentally effecting sales this far from launch.
What is the significance of waiting until Monday 5th to release it?
And is it just me or does that picture make you think more of the Fantastic 4 rather than Halo 4?

Edit: Fair point, however if I had seen it on the 29th I'd have a 4000 word review of what id seen ready for March 1st. N4G is going to be swamped with articles on Monday.

Gives everyone an equal chance to write their preview article?

Frankfurt2545d ago (Edited 2545d ago )

Embargoes are made either because someone (usually a magazine) has exclusivity on being first, or because marketing has a specific timeline laid out (there's something else they don't want to clash with, stealing spotlight, may be too early and hype will be diminished by release, etc).

In this case, i bet it is because someone like Game Informer has exclusivity on first dibs. It may even be because it will show up in their print version first.

Vinc3602545d ago

True, it's probably some exclusivity deal, I'd also bet it's with that Xbox magazine that announced about a month ago that Halo 4 would be present at this event...

Maybe someone with alot of Halo info can help with a question thats been bothering me.

Spartans II are suppose to be 1 1/2/ the size of a regular human and are trained from the age of 6.

Spartan III are much smaller and are trained at an older age(18) but they inject something in them to make them a super human which MC does not need because he is a Spartan II.

My question is: If MC does not use super human steriods then why is he so tall and big? Is he the size of a regular human but the armor is bigger than him or is he just tall.

Spartans II were also genetically engineered and from the initial 75 candidates only 33 survived the training and the enchancment process. From those 33 Master Chief is the last survivor. Spartans III were something like a massive production of super soldiers which was a lot cheaper and most of them died on Reach. I am sure i don't know the whole story so well since i haven't read the books but i hope i have helped you.

I think the embargo is becuase acorrding to the lil info that we have, Halo 4 will do alot of diffrent things that have not been done before - they probably want it keep tight lip so other developers who are currently making games will not use their ideas.

I like that fact that 343i will try to make us feel like MC as a human.

He also described what it should feel like to play as Master Chief.

A Spartan tossing his chest plate should feel like an anvil dropping….

A Spartan sprinting across concrete should be a stealthy whisper….

Putting on your helmet should feel like powering up an F-15E….

These are the sorts of experiences we want to give the players.

"Typically, from Halo to Halo, the Master Chief’s armor has changed and adapted, and there have been fictional reasons why,” 343 said. “With Halo 4, we’re taking a different approach and focusing on the storytelling aspects of art from the design standpoint. We don’t do that everywhere in the game, but we wanted to take this opportunity to really focus on him as a human being.”

The modified armor and the changed physics will make players feel like they’re actually inside Master Chief’s armor, instead of controlling a floating gun on the screen, according to the developer.

“One of the Master Chief’s most notable physical characteristics is that he’s wearing 800 pounds of tank and jet fighter. So we pulled that design into the armor and HUD. When you play Halo 4, it’s important you understand that you’re more than just a gun on the screen. To give you that feeling, we have represented that weight with player physics, without interrupting crosshair and shooting accuracy.”

The studio also highlights that the new Master Chief will be a nimble yet heavy superhero, whose armor contrasts with the bulky ones seen in 2010’s Halo: Reach title.

“Our goal is to hit that sweet spot where we represent what is fictionally true about the Chief while making sure you feel like you’re a super-powerful human being when you're playing him,” 343 Industries concluded."

Can't wait for Halo 4 and Medal of Honor Warfighter to take back the crown from Call of Duty. The years of Call of Duty is numbered, if they resume to use the same engine and have the same online issues year after year.

Vinc3602545d ago

Amen to that! I really hope Halo 4 introduces even more new stuff to the formula while keeping the true Halo feel. I have to admit Halo Reach kinda disappointed me in some areas, a return to form would be great for this one!

Legionaire20052545d ago (Edited 2545d ago )

Yeah me too 100 percent. Halo Reach was the worst out of the Halo series other than Halo ODST. Properly causeits a prequel as the reason for the disappointment, making it less action pack than Halo 1 . Maybe that's why Reach lack the big wow moments of every Halo. Reach was still a good, but not great game. Halo 4 and Medal of Honor, reunite what you long awaited for. Your Mission beat Call of Duty and win back the stolen fans.

I think it's a pretty fair guess to say CoD won't update their engine until a launch title for Next-Gen.

Which by then, they probably will have released Black Ops 2, and maybe even another (without an engine upgrade)

And in case I haven't made it clear, i think that is absolutely unacceptable.

The types of people who play Halo are vastly different from those that play Call Of Duty. I don't think Halo has a chance to take away anything from Call Of Duty, Halo will sell like crazy, probably between 8-11 million, but COD will still put up 20+.

As for Medal Of Honor, I actually have high hopes for the game, mostly because Dice isn't involved. Danger Close needs to make the online play like the brilliant offline played. Prone, the ability to adjust rate of fire ect...

Even then, I wouldn't count on anything dethroning Call Of Duty.

The sad fact is, people play COD because their friends/family do. Its been inundated in society and pop culture, where as these other games haven't really done that.

Legionaire20052545d ago

Yeah Halo 4 may or may not beat Call of Duty in sells. It all depends if people are willing to play the same crap year after year with unfixed problems do to an engine showing its age. Look Call of Duty is a multiplatform game, yeah I get it, but compare sells on 360 version vs Halo 4. Halo 4 alone on the 360 side will beat it. It has that Vehicle and non vehicle combat feel people seem to forget about. As for Medal of Honor, and it's truly an honor to see it surface again, will dominate also. It's Call of Duty's true competitor, because it's two shooters in the modern combat arena. The campaign will beat Call of Duty with the freedom of choice gameplay they hinted at. Heck even Battlefield 3 was the better game last year.
