IGN: SSX Review

Jack DeVries: SSX is the video game this generation has been missing. The feeble attempts of other, lesser snowboarding games’ attempt to capture the adrenaline fueled excitement of SSX don’t compare at all. This is what happens when you don’t just put the game out every year, but spend your time crafting it, creating the ultimate experience. SSX redefines snowboarding games, raises the bar for the genre, then backflips over it.

I remember being absolutely wowed by the original all those years back when the PS2 launched.

It's great to see this reboot getting some critical acclaim. Too many games in my life to have time for it at gthe moment, but I'll definately pick this up sometime down the line.

cool, it seems that they have some good deals. I got my 3DS from them for $140 a month or so ago. I'll have to see if they have any awesome deals on the Vita when I'm ready to buy one. I have to build a new PC first, which should kick ass anyway.

Snowboarding is classified as an "extreme sport". MMA is just a "sport". The two sports shouldn't be compared..in real life or within the gaming medium.

As far as FUN is concerned, I had a slightly better time with SSX than UFC 3. Its rare that a demo makes me want to buy a game that wasn't even on my radar. Def getting SSX when it drops to $30 in a couple of months.

I wouldn't care, as I have nothing invested in any of them.

I changed BS to stuff and hopefully people will know that this is only my opinion. I even made an effort to type "in my opinion" in there somewhere, but maybe I should have been more clear.

If you like NBA games that is fine. I'm just kind of tired of those types of games and that's why I think SSX is a breath of fresh air.

Linko: Although (in my opinion) UFC is way more entertaining than BBall or american football, I wouldn't really make such a bold claim. They both easily trump Basketball and FootArmBall IMO.

Ahhh yes... the gaming psychics who know well ahead of release how good or bad a game will be. Reminds me of people on here who just knew NeverDead was gonna be great! I picked up Twisted Metal on a whim and am very glad I did, but I'm also looking forward to SSX and keep playing the demo over and over, which is unusual for me.

I played it one time just to see how awesome it was... now I'm holding out till I get my full retail version this coming Tuesday. Even from just one run, I could see it was everything an SSX game should be and prettier than ever.

am i the only one thats BORED with the game so far.. and yes i have a copy in my possession. Though it could be the slow start (at least it seems slow to me) and the lack of it telling me what place i came in WORLD TOUR.. its all PASS/FAIL but from the looks of it WORLD TOUR is just a glimpse of the game, most of the meat seems online and in EXPLORE

its alright but i am not as hooked as the last SSX.. the gear thing is meh and not enjoying some of the NIGHT races. though if i had all the best gear it would be a different game probably

I was pretty hooked on the demo and still play it alot. Me and my friends are constantly trying to beat each others scores. This game seems like it will last long just off of that feature alone. If you love to beat your friends scores and times in games this game definitely seems like something you'd probably like.

Glad to see SSX revitalized and not stuck in the "dead" era in the PS2 and Xbox days. Glad to see it back up, now I want Jade Empire, Phantom Dust and Advent Rising and Otogi out the "dead Era", well those Ip's probably will be stuck in limbo. Anyway, glad to see SSX back to life.

Amped 3 is my snowboarding game of choice it has the most bizzare story i have ever seen in a game its got it covered for me.

Amped was always way to serious, ssx is a over the top crazy racing/trick bag full of fun yet hardcore with it. Some of the demo times/score are mental.

Amped 3 is the least serious game the story is stop start animation with dolls buring on bbqs very underated i agree the older ones were though but yeah if you havnt played amped 3 the story is acid on acid.

I'm more interested in realistic style gameplay for these sorts of games, like Skate, rather than arcadey and way over the top. SSX is just Tony Hawk: On Ice. =P I understand that most people are interested in that style, but it's not really my type of game, though playing online could be pretty fun.

We need a snowboarding game done in the style of Skate, using some sweet analog controls.

good review but i didnt need any convincing anyway. SSX is the sports game, hell its one of the best games available in any genre ( minus blur, that was only decent )
