What Were Japan’s Favorite Peripherals of 2011?

Kotaku: What do gamers buy other than games and consoles? Game peripherals, of course. In an interview with Weekly Famitsu, a spokesperson for game peripheral maker Hori discussed the sales of game peripherals and accessories in Japan in 2011.
A big seller in 2011 was the 3DS Mario Kart 7 handle. Despite its somewhat goofy appearance, the accessory sold so much that it was the number one topic of customer phone calls to the Hori sales department during the Christmas season. Read Kotaku's review of the peripheral here.

Thanks to the Nintendo DS and 3DS screen protection was at an all time high. From the looks of things this is just the beginning as Nintendo hand helds sell at record speeds, the trend will continue.
