I still wonder if it'll be on one platform, exclude one that this game could be on, given that they've received money from multiple sources.

Also have to scratch my head at the notion on gamers "paying" for a game they'll have to buy.

If you donate $15, you get the game for free. It's also going to be on Android, Mac, Linux, and iOS.

They stated what platforms they would be supporting in the beginning and those who donate over $15 gets the game for free.

Now that they made so much money they have added more platforms and now other people who see a platform that they play games on being supported they can decide to support too and get the game which can lead to even more backers and more platforms.

The only people who will have to pay for this after release is the ones who dont donate.

one hit wonder ? Mmmh... I don't think so, but it won't replace the usual publisher any time soon

and I guess that only a developer with a good track record and fanbase will be able to get a few millions like Tim Schafer

vortis4854d ago

Totally agreed.

A lot of devs are starting to openly protest the need for publishers and I fully support them in this decision.

Devs with a loyal fanbase and a good track record will come out on top every time they do a Kickstarter. If Naughty Dog went indie you can bet your bottom dollar the community would give them HOWEVER much they wanted. Same could be said of Respawn Entertainment, Bungie or if BioWare finally got from under the evil umbrella of EA.

uh oh...looks like the 2nd game flopped sales-wise. what a shame

MadLad703d ago

Psychonauts 2 has been the studios most profitable release, despite being on Gamepass, and a third title is already open and on the table when the time comes.
They wanted to do a big, new IP release coming into the acquisition being they would have funding they wouldn't have otherwise. That was obviously greenlit.

EvertonFC703d ago

He was always gonna make a new ip once MS bought them.
The correct dicision imo, comebk to P3 at a later date.

Much preferred the first game tbh, so not a huge loss.

I'm about 9 episodes into this and it's great. They've been recording it for long, long time, pre Kickstarter and Rhombus.

Looks like it's 33 episodes. Going to keep this, using All Video Downloader. 😊
