OXM: Firaxis has "captured the imaginations" of console owners with Enemy Unknown.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown rebooted the series back in 2012, and has since inspired numerous new strategy game series to be born.
If someone gets into this I'd recommend getting the enemy within version. It's got all the dlc included so it's the better version. Wish the author would've atleast mentioned it. I didn't see it.
Fantastic game though. Xcom 2 is top notch also. I've spent countless hours in these games.
There are few things more gratifying in gaming than skillfully turning the tide of a conflict. And few genres provide as many opportunities to abruptly reverse the odds via skill and forethought as tactical strategy. To be sure, we are more often than not talking about turn-based tactical mobile games, specifically titles in line with the iconic landmark series (XCOM and Jagged Alliance) that made the genre a genre.
Some games age better than others. When a game is getting on in years, mods can help give the game a little push and make it worth playing again.
Isn't that one of the purposes of Kinect? Well that is what MS says anyway but I don't buy it.
does this mean no kinnect support ?
Is this coming to PS3 also?
Really looking forward to this. I'm a oldschool gamer, played every major platform over the years starting with Atari 2600, right through to PC and now xbox 360. There aren't many game genre's I haven't dabbled in over the years, but this past couple of console generations, many older genres like turn based strategy games, space sims, squad based tactical shooters etc, have gone MIA.
So as a gamer, its great to hear that at least one of those genres is getting a come back in the form of XCOM. We need some of those oldschool genre's back to break up the monotony of all those generic FPS experiences out there.
Dont get me wrong, I love FPS, especially those of the single player open world, emergent gameplay variety like BioShock, Fallout New Vegas etc. But those types of FPS are few and far between, so it will be a nice change of pace to get away from all the CoD clones and play something I haven't played for over ten years with this Xcom remake.
Looking forward to a very deep and engrossing experience.
