TVGB: With the release of PS2 Classics onto the PlayStation Store recently there has speculation that Sony could end up making these downloads compatible with the PS Vita, just like PlayStation minis and (eventually) PSOne Classics.
Why didn't the PS Vita get more love again?
Not sure if the Nomad and Express should be on this list. Meaning that while they were portable, they didn't have their own games and instead relied on the same games the console hardware used. Neo Geo pocket, Lynx, Vita... those are dedicated handhelds with their own software library.
If criteria is simply to just allow for handheld gaming then the supaboy should be on there as well.
The Nomad should have never been made, that big cartridge on the back. Sega was throwing out money. I thought the Lynx was solid. I never knew about the Turbo express though
The PlayStation Vita may be ten years old, but it remains surprisingly fresh -- and is well worth the investment!
Vita and PSTV are worth grabbing it does have a solid library behind it like the PSP.
It was always worth it, ashame how much people trashed it when it was so ahead of its time. I have two oled models and plan to mod one eventually. But I need time to do that
Great little system just not supported half as well as Psp was. Sony pushed hard for Gran turismo metal gear peace Walker GTA x2 (liberty and vice city stories) Tony hawks 2 god of war exclusives when it came to Vita those games were non existent or simple ports no vita exclusive entries except uncharted and Killzone. gravity rush and tearaway were brilliant tho just needed a few more of the big hitters to join. Mainly use mine for ps1 games now 🙌🏻🤣 and some psp
Love retro gaming? Don't be without these rad handheld gaming consoles.
The PS Vita hurts because it was (is?) such a great handheld. We may never know why Sony abandoned it like they did but it's a mystery.
I kind of figured. I think the tech demo they showed at E3 with all the PS3 games was just to show how easy it was to make ports, meaning that developers can make games for PS3 and easily port it over to Vita.
This article meaning like already existing PS3 titles.
and now we await the PSvita is doomed article because of no PS2/PS3 game support
if i wanna play ps2 games ill play my ps2, if wanna play ps3 games ill play my ps3. i play the vita to play vita games not the latter.
Thats a smart move.
Why do that when you can focus on new games or enhanced ports and remakes?
I'm being very vocal about the PSOne classics (I know its coming) being patched ASAP and am very surprised this feature appears not to be ready for launch. As for the PS2 games, I really would like to see it, but from a technical standpoint when it comes to emulating the PS2 hardware...maybe that is the problem. PS3 games: there is remote play, and Sony should really get their shit together on this, as its an outstanding feature, and as seen with the CFW videos, possible without developers needing to "put" it into their games.
Wallet it ready come next week.
Yeah I could see retro not being supported for the Vita, it was inevitable if you think about it, the way they've shifted from backwards compatibility to remakes. Sony wants to focus on the new rather than the old with the Vita.
