Wii U: What Nintendo Should and Shouldn't Do

It might seem that there aren't a lot of mysteries remaining about the Wii U, Nintendo's first step into the high definition marketplace and the kickoff of the next generation console wars. But initial appearances can be deceiving.

While we'll likely learn everything there is to know at E3, there's still time for the company to tweak its new system to get the most out of it when it comes to retail. Just as we did with the next generation Xbox and the PlayStation 4, we've got a few humble suggestions about what Nintendo should – and shouldn't – do with its next console.

I've got a should that's not on that list! Make the damn thing actually more powerful than PS3, which doesn't seem to be what Nintendo's aiming at.

PopRocks3592497d ago

It's already confirmed to be more powerful than what's already on the market. We just don't know if it's a great or small difference in power.

Don't forget that the PS2 was somewhat weaker than the GCN and Xbox.

I really don't think it's been confirmed. I think it's been hinted at, but at the same time Nintendo has talked about how they're not looking to push graphics tech that far. I honestly don't think we're going to see games that really look better on Wii U than what the best of 360 and PS3 already offer. But look, the bottom line is none of us know for sure what those Wii U specs actually are because Nintendo won't say.

it would be really powerful even if it is on par with the ps3
this is what i don't like about the wii u
if the console is as powerful as they say why not take SMB to the next level

Nintendo has stated that NSMBMii was very early in development and that what was shown is not representative of the final product.... It probably will end up looking like that, but atleast there is some hope.

I honestly just want there to be online co op for the game.

They should not region lock the console. At this point for me that will bee the main factor on whether I buy the system new within a year of launch, or buy it used near the end of it's life-cycle.

PopRocks3592497d ago

That seems like a fairly small reason to or to not buy a console. Either way, I've heard this new hardware is meant to be very open and easy. It would not surprise me if Nintendo announced that it was region free.

ThePsychoGamer2497d ago (Edited 2497d ago )

@PopRocks539 First of all I never said I wouldn't buy the system, also it's not a small issue if you like to import games.

as far as WiiU, that would be surprising, remember Nintendo has never released a region free home console, and even completely region locked the 3DS as an anti piracy measure, a BS one at that.

The only deciding factor: Its launch price.

donniebaseball2497d ago

Price will be hugely important, it always is. It's why the Wii sold so well.

Mikhail2497d ago

Consoles are a niche product. Price is the deciding factor while product value takes a backseat

SHOULD.. Bring back Fzero preferably at launch.
Bring back starfox ( R Wing only ) no foot missions
Keep making great JRPGs

SHOULDNT.. Have friend codes. AWAY with that [email protected] once and for all.

Stay focus and dont be intimidated by other consoles.

Shackdaddy8362497d ago

It was already confirmed back in E3 not to have friend codes.

LX-General-Kaos2497d ago

I must have missed that at E3. I am very happy that it is official.
