Governor trying to inform parents about violent video games

Earlier today, Gov. Eliot Spitzer unveiled a presentation aimed at informing parents about violence in video games and how to select the game that's right for their children.

State Sen. Andrew Lanza (R-Staten Island) has been at the forefront of this issue, as he was selected to head a Senate task force charged with bringing the hammer down on violent video games.

The story is too old to be commented.

Inform parents.
What a grand idea!

It's not the video games that is the problem... it's the dumb-ass parents that are immature and irresponsible themselves!!

10 year old kids should NOT be playing games like CoD4 or Halo 3!

no kidding; when I play games with my niece and nephew we play racing games, guitar hero and viva pinata type stuff. that said, my four yr old nephew still knows the difference between playing a game and beating up the neighbor kid.

Some politiacian or anti-gaming activist actually doing something that makes sense - EDUCATE PEOPLE ABOUT VIDEO GAMES! Instead of making them out to be from the devil and finding ways to infringe on constitutional rights.

Spend energy on informing parents and guardians about the state of VGs today. 30 years ago VGs were considered kiddy with the Nintendo era but nowadays VGs are pretty much interactive movies so jsut becuase it's a VGs doenst' mean it's meant for children.

These people should be finding ways to work with and help out rating boards like the ERSB to better inform the public about gaming in general.

Also parents that get their 12/13yr old GTA so the kid & their friends can view them as "cool best friend" are pathetic idiots that realy should be charged with child neglect. Like what, you'd give your 12/13yr soft porn too? Stupid!

Parents need to be shown that this isn't health for their kids and given help in finding age appropriate games that are just as fun for them.
