Thats better news than I expected. I thought that the 1080p would be just for the HD dvd player. So dvd's and games are upscaled to 1080p. Thats incredable. Thats got to piss off sony extremest. Isn't that ironic. Microsoft will be the first next gen console that outputs 1080p. Incredible. I wonder if they had that up their sleeve all along. I knew a long time ago that the 360 was capable of outputting 1080p due to ATI's advanced GPU, but to implement it for game/dvd/and hd dvd out put is fantastic news. Sony fans are running out of reasons to why they thought the ps3 was better than the 360.

next gen games? Double check on this one....over 160 available by the end of 2006.

WOW...I'm a little taken back. For months I have been fighting off rabid sony fans and they would sing the same song over and over.

Wow...TGS is the best. I can't wait for the news to start rolling in. I'm going to get all my udated info via xbox live. Man, next gen gaming is unbelievable. Microsoft pulled off a Master stroke. Live anywhere is going to be huge.

I can't wait to set the dashboard to 1080p. being since I have a 1080p tv. Right now I have it set at 1080i and my tv de interlaces it. This is fantastic news. Sony fans have absolutely nothing to brag about now. Just play games and be a gamer. I don't know if I'm going to get a ps3 anymore. Not for a while. That was the main selling point for me. Just to see if there is a difference. I don't know anymore. I guess I'll decide after I see how TGS goes.

Here is a link to the official statement from TGS. MS hasn't announced hdmi support yet. But they haven't denied it either. Well have to see over today and the next few days. Thanks Microsoft. They did confirm Componant cables that support 1080p resolution though.

But still 1080p isn't needed.
But for Sony fanboys that want to step in it might be a big deal maybe. If that makes them buy a 360 I'm fine with it.
But not a big deal to me!

If you do want to read more about it, on is a PDF document in the German language straight from the Tokyo Gameshow pre-show MS info

This is the difference between MS and Sony.

Sony overpromisses and underdelivers.

MS makes their promisses true and even better: they make sure they have things up their sleeve to surprise everyone. They actually always deliver more as they state first off.

They know how marketing works. Not to promise and lie and then dissapoint the target group, no just like this. Get things out and deliver like MS does with the 360

Another reason not to waste all that money on a ps3.

According to an official release by Microsoft at their Tokyo Game Show 2006 press briefing, the Xbox 360 will be able to support 1080p games and videos. According to the press release, the fall update will usher in the upgraded resolution capability.

"[Microsoft's] fall software update, scheduled for release later this year, will allow all Xbox 360 consoles around the world to output game and movie content in 1080p resolution."

Which games will be released in the future that will support the higher resolution is still unannounced. 1080p is a visual upgrade over the Xbox 360's current maximum resolution output of 1080i, or 1920 by 1080 interlaced. We'll update as more details become available.

WOW! I've been saying that I expected M$ to have a few surprises for TGS, but I never expected this. Actually they should have held it just a little bit longer and said it right at the begininig of the show, it would of been like a gut punch. This is definitely "Big" news, but I will say what I have said a thousand times 1080p is not a big deal 'cause all my games look great in 720p, and I don't see any difference between 1080i and 1080p movies, also this will effect very few that have 50"+ 1080p HDTV's. Now before you say I'm contradicting myself, I'm not because I said its "Big" news 'cause I know alot of Sonyfanboys have used this 1080p stuff as some kind of litmus test to proove PS3 was so much superior to 360, well now even that irrational theory is gone......come on, Sonyfanboys so whats next? Fact is the 360 is still just a great console and the PS3 will be just as just choose the one who's games you like the MOST or buy all 3 if you have the cash. Like I've always said its all about the games....still its hard not to laugh at Sonyfanboys for dissing 360 and saying it wasn't powerful enough to do 1080p.....they know who they are, and so do we, don't hide, hopefully they can just come and say something positive and move on. I'm still going to get a PS3 eventually, I want to play MGS4, but personally I'll skip the whole PS3 rush, just to make Sony wait, then I'll buy when its a lil cheaper and thats exactly what Sony deserves.
