Davis from Denkiphile: "Amongst fighting games, there has always been a divide between what was considered tournament viable and not. Amongst the viable, we have the hardcore games like Street Fighter and Tekken that have been in the circuit for years and amassed community-wide recognition for its players. However, just because a title lacks the prestige of being a hardcore game by no means bars it from garnering a following. The SoulCalibur series is the perfect example of one that has a legion of loyalists yet was never quite as respected by hardcore fighting game players. Regardless, the series has marched on and is already on its fifth iteration, adding enough features to keep its fans satisfied but not to break down the barrier between it and other fighters."
