IGN: Rayman Origins [PS Vita] Review

IGN: The past few years seem to have convinced some critics that "artsy" platforming games ought to be short affairs, but Rayman is much, much better than that.

Rayman Origins is one of the best platformers out there. Period. Get it on Vita. Get it on 360. Get it on PS3. Heck, get it on Wii if you have to. This game is pure platforming genius.

smashcrashbash4840d ago

Yes it is great. It's too bad so many people ignored it.

Missed this one on the PS3 and XBOX 360, but definatly won't make the same mistake on the vita, I'm actually glad I did miss it, something tells me it will be my favorite title on launch day. I already picked up UC:GA and Hot Shots Golf, and tomorrow ill be picking up Virtua tennis, fifa and rayman. Does anyone know if there gamestop is giving them the run around on the starter pack with the 4 gb memory card and headphones like mine is, its pissing me off. I have the odd feeling that they have a limited amount and there keeping them for themselves or there "special customers" FML

Its a shame there is no multiplayer on the vita version.

MmaFan-Qc4840d ago

some levels was a clusterfuck with two peoples, so for me no multi in this version isnt a big deal at all.

im already owning it on ps3 and will get it on vita too(but not on launch)

Knight_Cid4840d ago (Edited 4840d ago )

only get it on ps3. Its a much better version.

It doesnt include features and it doesnt look as good.

Thats the problem I see with some of these games moving units for vita ( which they didnt in japan)

People will be making a choice and the choice will almost always go to the ps3.

Thats why original titles are so important

Why Rayman Origins Is Still Worth Picking Up After 10 Years

i think they should try to make a rayman 3D open world game for PS5 & Xbox Series X

PS-Gamer-19861243d ago

Still waiting for an origins and legends successor. My wife and i were addicted to these games at the time.

IanTH1243d ago (Edited 1243d ago )

I'll be curious if they make one. If they do, it won't look like they did, at least. Ubisoft retired the UbiArt framework used to make these games, apparently because the tools were too hard to work with across their many studios. Which is a bummer for sure, as I feel those games having a fairly unique aesthetic also benefitted them.

EDIT: Apparently I misremembered. They did say "hence the decision to temporarily put it aside", but they also said "it’s still there, and you will see other things using it". So it sounds like a new game could possibly still use UbiArt.

Fantastic game. Have great memories playing Origins on the Vita.

I will say though, around 2/3s of Origins' levels can actually be unlocked in the even better Rayman Legends which you can find dirt cheap these days.

Legends has so much variety and those music levels are amazing.

Gamer791243d ago

Loved the rayman games especially origins and legends.

Even the first Rayman game is still worth picking.
