Long answer, no because the people who are content with app store games are people who would never have bought a Vita/3DS in the first place.

well, playing on a phone ....or playing on a ps vita?

Using a bicycle or superbike, both will get you from point A to point B...

but, ...will they give you the same experience?

case closed.(if your dont agree, then building sport cars is useless since there's hybrid cars available and both is the same ...right? )

The Nintendo 3DS sold over 15 million alone. That is in no way shape or form a failure.

Everyone have a smartphone and most games are for $99 cents so I would be surprise if casual gaming on smartphone didn't took off.

There is still a place for dedicated gaming handhelds.
But I think Nintendo and Sony should embrace and make their handhelds not only gaming machines but a media device or possibly have a phone variation for your handheld.

when i think of gaming on a phone I think of someone that is bored in a long check out line killing time, and all they play is angry birds, and have no idea that games exist outside of the smart phone realm, when i think of real handheld gaming i think of an engrossing game experience, when your home console is unavailable. :)

Certainly to a degree, but not majorly at all.

dude, you they would look at you crazy 5 years ago anyway. I don't remember seeing 1 high school or college student with a hand held device then. Same thing with business guys. IDK, they just have never been socially acceptable with that crowd. It's kids and gamer thing, it has always been that way.
