The decision is in and the staff of G4 X-Play has named its Game of the Year!
The inventive first-person shooter took home 4 awards out of 16 categories. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Portal each received 2 awards.

Today, Portal with RTX is being upgraded with DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, multiplying framerates, as well as the transformer model for Ray Reconstruction and DLAA, enabling even better image quality. Portal with RTX is also adding RTX Neural Radiance Cache (NRC), a neural shader that improves indirect lighting, as well as a bevy of performance optimizations.
Assassin's Creed has been hard done by in the past several years despite its success, and as messy as it could be, it might be time for a reboot.
They already did that in 2017 with origins. I don’t think a reboot is on the cards when Ubisoft is about to go down under lol

I doubt they'll be closing, but they are primed to be eaten up by a bigger comp. Also 2017 was nearly a decade ago, it could use another reboot or rather it should just be retired.
Origins was the reboot.
But that also alienated the original AC lovers, abit. Not everybody adores the perma-change of the IP to be vast RPGs.
What I instead propose is, alternate between Valhalla/Shadows type AC RPGs and Mirage/ACII like non-RPG releases.
What is old might feel new again. A new splinter cell with semi open levels but still having a linear structure (not just one giant open world) that have multiple paths to complete the objective but still have stealth be the main priority would feel fresh, especially with modern graphics and military gadgets .
I agree, from anecdotal evidence, all franchises eventually stagnate, it might be a good time to start something new.

Total franchise reboot. This ac game is basically the hail Mary to keep Ubisoft alive if this fails the share price will be so low they will be forced to sell and likely absorbed into another org as the Ubisoft name carries almost no weight.
Don't get me wrong they will end up selling after ac regardless but it will be the difference of getting the deal they want vs the deal they don't
With many wondering what route the franchise should take next, Assassin's Creed should finally visit the Wild West era.
Tell me how that's going to be significantly different than colonial America. AC is about showcasing different cultures throughout history. They already did Native Americans in AC3, so then just cowboys, outlaws, ranchers, etc? Kinda feel like there's already a game out there that does that really freaking well. Hmmm, maybe the one in the thumbnail?

They are all pretty good pics but Everyday Shooter>Pac Man CE IMHO. I wish it was nominated.
Edit at Round Peg: Yeah it's just....It's Pac Man. You can't really go wrong and there's some good new stuff...but it's still pac man. ES was just the opposite: inventive. So inventive. And fun. ya know?

kind of surprised that God of War II got thrown under the bus.....probably the only game this year I have played through twice and I am still thinking about picking it up again....
Before I get the disagrees, I own a 360 and am not trying to take anything away from those that won, but Kratos should have gotten some love.
I would have still given Bioshock top dibs for game of the year also, but next year might be the year of the PS3<and reason for me to buy one>. Okay the disagrees may commence!
All thegatv is a bunch of retarted shows i one time got the previews of that channel in my cable TV for like a week and everything in it was just afull, pretty much the mtv of the video game, sucks at maxx so nobosy cares what they thing.
though who ever was that short kinda asian girl that does this show with that white kid was pretty hot i like to top that a$$ the only good thing worth watching even though she was stupid just like the rest of the guys there.
will have a couple big games next year, so will 360, why does everyone keep saying 2008 will be the PS3s year? They may sell a few more consoles when MGS4 drops but that is certainly not going to change the course of the conflict between MS and Sony, no one or two games can do that, if one game could do it then that game would have been Halo3, and the would mean MS has already won this generation, but they have not.
