PlayStation 3 Rumor: Sony to Bundle Free BD Movies with Select PS3 Games

Industry sources are whispering that Sony may bundle one or more free Blu-ray movie titles with some of their early PS3 game titles in an effort to introduce the next-gen dvd format to the masses.

This would have a huge inpact on how gamers, in particular the ones who plan on getting a PS3, view the Blu-Ray drive and put it to use besides using it for games, and get a BD movie to watch, without paying for the it and experience Blu-Ray movies for free.

so whats the bets on XXX, spiderman or other crappy sony movies?

Spiderman was crappy!?! i for one would rather them bundle a free game with the system. most of the movies they'd probably bundle with it i already own on regular DVD's. but no, Spiderman isn't crappy. it just so happens to be in the top 20 grossing movies of all time.

meh, i thought spiderman should have been a better movie.

If this is true, this would be a very smart move for Sony to take to introduce early adopters to the Blu-ray movie side of things. I don't see why they wouldn't add in some Sony Pictures movies to get people interested in the format. What would also be smart to do would be to start including UMD's with the Blu-ray releases. If they're trying to tie the PS3 and PSP together, what better way to do it than to include both versions of a movie in one (and not raise the price). Either way, if they're wanting to get people into their format (and HD-DVD too), they're going to have to drop their prices to $15-$20 for barebones release and $25-30 for a special edition.

Since Blu-Ray movies aren`t selling, they figure why not just give it to them for free!

I don't think so. I think this is a great idea.
