Soulcalibur V has landed, and judging from what I've been hearing, it's a pretty good game. Heck, GameZone's Andrew Clouther awarded it a great 8 / 10 score in his review, which means it's definitely worthy of your attention if you're a fan of the series or fighting games in general. Unfortunately for me, I have yet to play Soulcalibur V because I have to manage my money wisely, which means I can't always buy every game I want at launch. So what did I do? I decided to bust out my copy of Soulcalibur II for the GameCube.
Assassin's Creed's Ezio and The Witcher's Geralt have been excellent guest characters in the Soul Calibur series.
Trevor Walker said: Fighting games have always been able to simultaneously experiment and innovate while staying true to their roots in the best of ways. Mechanics change, crossovers take place, and evolution occurs. One of the best examples of all three can be seen in the coveted guest character.
Now that the Japanese console versions of Soulcalibur II are 20 years old, it's worth looking back at why the game remains so iconic.
Of the three console versions, GCN was my favorite due to Link. His character felt more accurate to the others. Hehachi and Spawn were okay but... felt out of place.
Then again, so did Yoda and Vader in SC4.
Thousands of matches, countless nights, and beautiful memories. Soulcalibur is one the greatest games there is, but its best feat is that it gathered friends for some of the best times of their lives. I miss those days and i miss those friends.
Thought 3 was better personally, shame it's stuck on PS2 and didn't get any love since.
Holds up, but with an improved sequel currently out, not sure if it's worth playing.
I think it still holds up really well! Me and a friend were playing this on the Gamecube about 2 days ago! What a fantastic fighter, cant believe its nearly been 10 years !
played it on dolphin, blah. the series is too sluggish. prefer virtua fighter 5. next.
