Amalur has the best combat in an RPG, better than Dark Souls- Ken Rolston

GB : Oh my, my. The hype is at an all time high, isn’t it? First saying that the in Amalur lore is richer than that in Elder Scrolls, saying that Amalur’s combat sets it apart from games like God of War and Skyrim, and now this. The game certainly looks awesome.

Yeah, you can't really compare the combat between the two games anyway.

Kingdoms of Amalur's combat is very much like Fable. In fact, I would heartily classify KoA as "Fable, but with less farting and more exploration and items to find".

The only upcoming game with combat that reminds me of Dark Souls is Dragon's Dogma. Kinda seems like a cross between Demon's/Dark Souls and Monster Hunter.

Dark Souls. This game's Combat feels like the original Fable on the XBox and, therefore, is dated. Not bad mind you, and still better than Skyrim's combat, but still dated and in need of something more.

aside from the obviously false headline, the combat does look very good and very fun, and what little i experienced in the demo was enjoyable. in comparison to Dark Souls, however....i'd say Dark Souls is like Killzone 2 and KoA is like MW2--both styles are good, but KZ2 is weightier and more visceral, while MW2 is light and arcady. i guess it would ultimately boil down to which you prefer, but i think the more weighty, realistic approach of Dark Souls (even though the weight and slowness can be overdone at times) is more appealing and rewarding than KoA's.

the combat feels good but dark/demon's souls feels good in its own amazing methodical way. KoA is more hack n' slash, demon's souls is more timing and perfection.

As "RPG combat" goes, it is pretty different from what we've come to expect...

But I can't help but feel that inserting the style of combat we've come to expect from an action game doesn't make the experience any more innovative or meaningful.

You're one of the complainers that said Dark Souls was too hard. I remember you saying that it's easier to kill a real Rat than play DS.

Not really in reply to you, I think the combat is good, almost as good as God of War's. But the camera controls were garbage (based on demo). I had to adjust the camera because it was so laggy... and I could only make it move faster, it was still laggy. The camera angle was also distracting. Maybe the PC version is better.

It's probably better to work or study than playing any game.

I why do ppl want to see this game fail. I just don't understand that. It's offering dynamic combat to a genre that's in desperate need of it. This will only make devs work harder to earn our dollar instead of making us play sub par garbage tagged as "the standard".

Everyone may not like this game but the combat is solid and the world is vibrant and interesting. Name a console RPG that does combat better than Amalur...oh yeah you can't because none have done so.

I foresee action game implementing an RPG like world into there story to make them that much more compelling after this. i mean why not just about ever major shooter from Gears to Cod have made leveling the norm. Games like Amalur inspire change and creativity and that's something that all gamers should welcome. Trolls!!

the combat is NOT better than dark souls lmao. its fun, but its a different style, on top of that its pretty glitchy, like the rogues dashing attacks.

both are awesome in their own respects.
