With the release of Final Fantasy XIII-2 (and promises to return to a more traditional Final Fantasy styled experience) it made the writers of Infinite Ammo reminisce over our own Final Fantasy experiences, and made us think back to our favorite moments, our most ridiculous ones, and where we’d like the franchise to go in the future.

Gary Green said: Tempting as it is to dedicate our first installment of PlayStation Icons to a franchise-leader like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, or even Sackboy, instead I’m choosing a character that I, like so many others, connected with on a personal level. He’s a moody, world-weary teen, a proud loner with no time for the drama of others, and yet he’s also a hero just waiting for the motivation to unleash his full potential. He’s a warrior. He’s a leader. He’s the king of internal monologues. It’s time to meet Squall Leonhart.
My take on this.
Fave FF
- Final Fantasy 4 introduced me to the franchise but Final Fantasy 7 gave me the most memories.
Fave Summon
- Bahamut Zero from Final Fantasy 7
WTF Moment
- Necron! WHO THE HECK IS THIS GUY?
Where the series should go
- I have enjoyed every single FF game released despite its faults. They can continue to innovate but remember the core elements that has made the series so beloved. The story has to matter bar none, JRPGs live & die by the story. With a great memorable story the characters will fall in line. Develop these characters so we can be attached to them as we see them grow during the game.
The old Final Fantasies had simple game play mechanics but it is their stories that keep us playing. If Squarenix can remember that SIMPLE philosophy they will be successful again. I seriously believe that.
