1up Preview: Why You Should Ignore Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning's Constant Namedropping

Before the demo from two weeks ago, all most people knew about Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was that it's the first product of a studio that boasts a roster containing baseball legend Curt Schilling, comics and action figures guru Todd McFarlane, Dungeons & Dragons scribe R.A. Salvatore, and Internationally Celebrated Game Designer Ken Rolston. That, along with the basic boast of how Reckoning mashes up the combat of God of War with the expansive world of an Elder Scrolls title, dominated public awareness of the game.

Demo was awful one of the worst games ive played in along time giant rats in a cave lol he done that in oblivion.

funny thing is in other threads people said the same thing to vastly different responses. The demo was pretty bad, but its a demo for an rpg so Ill wait on what others think. Oh ya, reviews have proven to be completely useless over and over again thanks to $.

Note to the writer : as per your comment ........

" in addition to the lackluster presentations " ...............

Some of the PR , ( guessing you have not seen it ) on this project has been top of the line . PAX ... sending a lot of ( would be otherwise ) gamers to the moon .

great pr for sure, they just made the deal with ign for a great review. Little do they know its not really worth it, it might get them a few thousand buys from people who spend way too much time on the internet. Word of mouth is key, 95% of gamers dont care about reviews. I also think having a demo was a big mistake for an rpg.

Looking Back at Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning

Do you remember the good old days, when video games put fast hack-and-slashing combat sequences and extensive levelling systems first and a deep narrative with memorable characters second? BigHuge Games certainly banked on gamers holding some kind of nostalgia for those titles of yore with their fantasy RPG Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning.

This is hilarious that i would see an article after I went and re-bought the game and playing it all week! I love the QTEs in this game its satisfying, the combat is fluid where you can switch from weapons to magic so easily, the weapons, armor, quests, character customizations, lore, world, voice acting, are all great this game has almost everything you'd need and want from an RPG!

I really wish there was going to be a KoAR 2!

Phoenix Down 49.2 – Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

The journey comes to an end.

Would LOVE to see a sequel to this brilliant game. Wouldn't mind a remake for current gen systems either.

Hypnotic2922d ago

Last I heard this studio went out of business so I would think a remaster is pretty unlikely.

InMyOpinion2920d ago

Never say never, Darksiders 2 got a remaster.

phantomexe2922d ago

I think EA owns the rights to it now. I loved the game as well. A rare gem overlooked.

Went into a cave for a mission...Mission glitches and I can't start the mission or exit the cave...Auto save and manual saves are within the cave....I messed up so bad I quit. Really good game though.

such a great game, shame about the studio.
to produce something of that quality as their first title, just imagine what they could have done with more experience.
